By 22 BBY, the planet maintained an embassy in the Federal District of Coruscant, which was the capital world of the Galactic Republic. Around 10 BBY, Ephant Mon and Masse Goskey, both arms dealers, were present at an arms exchange on Bonadan, where Mon acquired a fresh writing stylus and a billy-bag filled with finely shredded, savory sweetmeats. He subsequently made mention of the planet while documenting the exchange in the book that would later be known as the Smuggler's Guide.
A subsequent entry within the book featured a post from a user identified as "BonadanBouncer" on Cynabar's InfoNet. This post asserted that the crime lord Azmorigan should be avoided due to his failure to compensate for cleanup services after the user transported puffer pigs for him. The smuggler Han Solo had journeyed to Bonadan by the time 0 BBY arrived.
Within current Star Wars canon, the first mention of Bonadan was on a map featured in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game, a boxed set from Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars Roleplaying released in 2016. The world initially appeared within the Star Wars Legends continuity, making its debut in the 1979 novel Han Solo's Revenge, authored by Brian Daley.
