The De'Rruyet Industries confluence was an event in which Beol De'Rruyet, the founder and leader of De'Rruyet Industries, intended to unveil his version of a Nihil Path engine hyperdrive, which De'Rruyet claimed could replicate the Nihil's methods of lightspeed travel, at the De'Rruyet Center on the planet Midarr. The launch of the hyperdrive, according to Lady Domina Tagge of Tagge Corporation, could change the galactic economy or end the current war between the Alliance to Restore the Republic and Galactic Empire, which Tagge claimed would be financially ruinous for her company. In response, Tagge hired the rogue archaeologist Doctor Chelli Aphra to find out where De'Rruyet's device had come from, and whether it worked.
As the confluence grew close, Aphra and smuggler Sana Starros discovered that the hyperdrive was actually a fake, and that if a lightspeed jump was attempted it would combust the ship and kill the pilot, and realized that if it went off in the middle of the confluence, it would kill all those present. The pair also discovered that De'Rruyet had become nervous that the engine would not work as he had proposed, and in response, had booked a one-way ticket to the the planet Mon Cala in the event that the Path engine didn't work.
On the day of the confluence, General Vukorah of the Unbroken Clan broke into the center in an attempt to claim the hyperdrive for herself, and took De'Rruyet and his employees hostage. Vukorah demanded that the engine be brought online, and regularly killed De'Rruyet's employees as she grew impatient. As Starros attempted to get the employees out of the center and to safety, Aphra, under of the guise that she was fixing the Path engine for Vukorah, secretly disarmed it. When Imperial stormtroopers entered the center to get the Unbroken Clan forces to surrender, a firefight broke out, and a stray blaster bolt hit the hyperdrive, which caused it to explode. The event finished De'Rruyet Industries as a company and ruined De'Rruyet's life.
