Leia's lightsaber was a blue-bladed lightsaber used by Princess Leia Organa during her time as a Jedi Padawan training under her brother Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker. Leia constructed her Jedi weapon shortly after the Battle of Endor, and utilized it in various sparring sessions with Skywalker. After Organa sensed the death of her son at the end of her Jedi path, she discontinued her training and gave the lightsaber to Skywalker, who kept it with him until his death at the Battle of Crait. A year later, Skywalker gave the weapon to Rey during the final days of the war between the First Order and the Resistance.
Leia Organa's lightsaber was a blue-bladed lightsaber powered by a kyber crystal in the core of the hilt. It was silver and copper in color and featured mother-of-pearl inlays. Organa's weapon was considered a work of art, having an elegant symmetry with silver and gold hues that evoke to her upbringing on Alderaan. The narrowneck and ringed emitter of the saber bore a similar appearance to that of Luke Skywalker's green blade. Curved metal grips around the midsection surrounded the crystal heart which powered the saber.
While rescuing Luke Skywalker from Grakkus Jahibakti Tingi, R2-D2 shot out four lightsabers to Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Organa. Organa caught one of them and used it fight off the stormtroopers Kreel had brought in, with her commenting that she had always wanted to use one.
In 4 ABY, after the Battle of Endor, Organa began training with her brother, Luke, now a fully trained Jedi Knight, on Ajan Kloss. She utilized her lightsaber for sparring sessions during her time as her twin brother's first Padawan, and became immensely skilled with the blade. Soon after, in 5 ABY, Organa discontinued her training after she told Skywalker that she had sensed the death of her son at the end of her Jedi path.
While Skywalker hoped that his sister would resume her training later on, Organa gave him her lightsaber to convince him otherwise, asking to pass it on to a promising student someday. However, Skywalker kept the saber and never told Organa where he stored it. Eventually, Skywalker went into exile on Ahch-To and took the saber with him, storing it inside his hut. After Skywalker's death his Force spirit gave Organa's lightsaber to Rey, as he believed Organa would want the Jedi Padawan, of whom she had picked up training herself, to have her weapon.
During the Battle of Exegol between the Resistance and the Sith Eternal, Rey used her master's lightsaber in tandem with the Skywalker lightsaber to deflect Darth Sidious' Force lightning back at the Sith Master, finally killing him. Sometime after Exegol, Rey built her own lightsaber and brought both Organa's lightsaber and Skywalker's first lightsaber to the Lars Homestead on Tatooine, where she used the Force to bury the weapons together in the sand.
Leia's lightsaber was created for the 2019 film, Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, the final installment of the The Skywalker Saga. According to Lucasfilm Archivist Madlyn Burkert, the saber's design was influenced by the Art Deco movement of the 1930s.
When asked about what type of lightsaber she would like during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert when promoting her new book The Princess Diarist, Carrie Fisher said she liked the color purple.
