Stargazers

The Stargazers cult was an organizations of fanatics active in the Tython system at the height of the Infinite Empire's power. They were obsessed with leaving the star system, believing they were robbed when the Tho Yor brought their ancestors to the Deep Core world Tython millennia in the past.

The Stargazers were a lesser sect active on the planet Kalimahr in 25,793 BBY. One of many sects that sought to leave the Tython system, they were secretive and largely non-violent, with the Captain Lorus having had no dealings with them. Membership in the sect was largely kept private. Rumors abounded in the city of Rhol Yan that the swing dust miner and industrialist Kara was a private investor in the sect. Captain Lorus had intel that she was letting the cultists use her properties on Kalimahr, and may have provided them with funds. In fact, Kara had donated use of an abandoned Dai Bendu temple in the Kalimahr city of Khar. This sect of Stargazers was led by the male Human Shunned Dalien Brock, who was dedicated to finding a way to leave Tython system and to reach the stars of their ancestors by all means possible, even criminal.

In 25,793 BBY the Stargazer sect put into action its plot to develop a device that would utilize dark matter to activate a Gree hypergate located in the Old City on Tython. Using plans laid out in the Frontiersman Osamael Or's journal titled The Gree, and Everything I Have Found of Them in the Old City, the sect's members worked in the confines of the Temple to formulate a methodical plan that would take them across the system. First, they would travel to the weapons labs of in Greenwood Station to create the device, initiating a between Greenwood and neighboring city Knool Tandor. Using the conflict to cover their movements, the sect would then travel to the planet Sunspot wherein they would delve into the mines of Ran Dan's Folly to excavate marionium to charge the device and initiate the dark matter creation. In the pursuit of these goals, many members of the sect were willing to don suicide vests and detonate themselves in public places to prevent the agents of the Je'daii Council from stopping the plot.

The Stargazers were nearly successful with their plot, making it as far as the hypergate itself in the sub levels of the Old City on Tython itself. However in the final moment Je'daii Ranger Lanoree Brock, the sister of the sect's leader Dalien, killed her brother and prevented the activation of the gate. The device was taken to Anil Kesh for study, the Old City put under watch, and the financiers of the cult fled. Je'daii Brock speculated that the cult continued on, however. As Kara and others of great wealth disappeared without a trace, the Je'daii believed that they were the real leaders of the cult.
