Vorzyd V

title: Vorzyd V

Vorzyd V, alternatively known as Vorzyd 5, Vorzyd-5, or even Gambler's World, was a planet situated in the Vorzyd system, which itself resided in the Outer Rim Territories.

Description

Vorzyd V, a terrestrial planet, was the fifth and most distant orbit from the star named Vorzyd. The world was a part of the Vorzyd system, which was found in the Vorzyd sector of the Outer Rim Territories region of the galaxy. This world had a diameter of 14,900 kilometers. It exhibited standard gravity, an atmosphere suitable for breathing, a moderate climate, and lacked any moons. While much of its surface was urbanized, plains also dotted the landscape. A single day on Vorzyd V spanned 22 standard hours, while a year consisted of 277 standard days.

The Vorzyd system, largely thanks to the prosperity of Vorzyd V, held a significant position within the Commonality. This was a league of nine sectors that were centered on Columex, a planet known for its trading. Vorzyd V operated under a democratic system, governed by a Prime Minister. Although the planet didn't have significant exports, it imported items like consumer goods, industrial products, and foodstuffs. Efavan, the capital city of Vorzyd V, was renowned for its opulent casinos, which were promoted via holographic advertisements in the planet's orbital lanes.

History

Partying youth on Vorzyd V.

In its past, Vorzyd V began as a colony of the people from Vorzyd IV. The Vorzydiaks who inhabited it eventually delegated all manual labor to droids, prioritizing leisure and games over diligent work.

Around 39 BBY, the inhabitants of Vorzyd V initiated the construction of the casinos and amusement parks that would later define the planet's reputation. During this period, the citizens of Vorzyd IV accused the people of Vorzyd V of intentionally disrupting their monitoring systems and factories. An investigation conducted by two Jedi, Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, revealed that the Freelies, a youth movement originating from Vorzyd IV, were responsible.

Tallisibeth Enwandung-Esterhazy, a Jedi Padawan more commonly known as "Scout," was born on Vorzyd V in 34 BBY.

In 22 BBY, Kalasaad Woztu held the position of Prime Minister on Vorzyd V. During the Clone Wars, the Vorzyd system fell under the control of the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

Under the New Order, the stringent gaming regulations and substantial taxation imposed by the Galactic Empire began to negatively affect the populace of Vorzyd V. As a result, Natala Vanden, the President of Gambler's World, became a supporter of the Rebel Alliance and arranged a meeting with Luke Skywalker to discuss the possibility of their defection to the Rebel Alliance.

In 4 ABY, the Vorzyd system found itself within the boundaries of the Greater Maldrood, a region fortified by Admiral Treuten Teradoc amidst the chaos following the Battle of Endor. By 8 ABY, Teradoc, facing pressure from a New Republic campaign, relinquished his territories, including the area around Vorzyd V, which were subsequently annexed by the Galactic Empire.

By 9 ABY, Vorzyd V was situated outside the core territory of the diminishing Empire, yet it remained within the sphere of influence of Grand Admiral Thrawn during his campaign against the New Republic. By 27 ABY, the Yuuzhan Vong, during their invasion of the galaxy, had seized control of the Vorzyd system. By 137 ABY, Vorzyd V existed within the space claimed by the Empire of Darth Krayt.
