Aloxians were a sentient species who hailed from the planet Zav Alox, located on the fringes of the galaxy. A common practice among young Aloxians involved donning helmets crafted from the skulls of vonduun crabs. Possessing extraordinary strength from birth, Aloxians were highly valued as youthful soldiers. During the High Republic Era, Qort, an Aloxian male, served as a Jedi Knight.
The sentient species known as Aloxians originated on the planet Zav Alox. Characterized by a small humanoid physique, they exhibited blue skin, brown eyes, and white hair. While capable of understanding Galactic Basic, they communicated primarily in their native language. Their inherent physical strength and aggressive tendencies, attributed by the Patrolian Farks to the infestation of vonduun crabs on their homeworld, made Aloxians formidable. Some Aloxians demonstrated the capacity to be Force-sensitive.
Young Aloxians underwent an initiation ritual that involved hunting a vonduun crab, and those who succeeded would wear the skull of the crab as a symbol of their achievement. Aloxians held the belief that these crab skulls, once integrated with the wearer's head, served to temper their innate aggression. The Farks posited that this practice was essential in preventing perpetual civil conflict within the species. When an Aloxian matured, their head would grow, eventually causing their helmet to shatter, which was interpreted as a sign of achieving full self-realization.
Due to their inherent strength and aggression, Aloxian children were highly sought after as [soldiers](/article/soldier], often captured by raiders and sold into military service. In some instances, Aloxian children were deliberately deprived of their skull helmets to amplify their lethal potential.
During the High Republic Era, Qort, a Force-sensitive Aloxian [male](/article/gender], was discovered by Maz Kanata and subsequently trained as a Jedi Padawan within the Jedi Order. In 230 BBY, Jedi Master Cherff Maota recruited an Aloxian Jedi Initiate named Zint into the Order, and he was present on the Star Hopper during the battle at Dol'har Hyde. Later, Zint was present on Starlight Beacon when the Nihil attacked it. Jedi Master Emerick Caphtor and private investigator Sian Holt evacuated Zint, along with the other younglings and Qort, from the station.
The Aloxians made their debut appearance in the first issue of the Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures comic series. The species received official identification through a digital trading card shared on IDW Publishing's social media platforms in August of 2021. Daniel José Older, the author, verified that Aloxians experience a faster aging process compared to humans, while paradoxically possessing a longer lifespan, describing them as "complicated beings."
