Amita Fonti, a Gossam who served as a senator representing the Commerce Guild within the Separatist Senate, played a role during the Clone Wars. This war saw the Galactic Republic in conflict with the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Fonti, alongside Speaker Bec Lawise and Senator Voe Atell from the Corporate Alliance, participated in guiding discussions within the Separatist legislative body. In the year 21 BBY, she was present on Raxus Secundus, the Separatist [capital](/article/capital] planet, when Senator Mina Bonteri proposed initiating peace talks with the Republic. Later, in 20 BBY, Fonti, along with Atell and Lawise, took part in a peace conference with Republic representatives on Mandalore, a neutral world; however, these negotiations ultimately failed.
Fonti, like the other senators from corporate entities within the Separatist Senate, displayed minimal enthusiasm for peace. She possessed light blue skin, blue eyes, and wore a set of four golden neck rings, a brown cap, and a long gown with red, white, and black colors on Raxus. She wore a similar gown on Mandalore, but with the red replaced by blue.
The first appearance of Amita Fonti, although not identified at the time, occurred in "Heroes on Both Sides," the tenth episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars' animated television series' third season. This episode was originally broadcast on November 19, 2010. Her identification was provided in the episode guide for "Heroes on Both Sides" on StarWars.com, although it did not specify which Gossam character was Fonti. A Gossam senator, later confirmed as Fonti, then appeared in "A Friend in Need," the fourteenth episode of The Clone Wars' fourth season, which originally aired on January 13, 2012. Her character model was subsequently retextured and used as a Gossam female vendor in "The Disappeared, Part II," the ninth episode of The Clone Wars' sixth season, which was initially broadcast on March 1, 2014.
