Arkania, a planet of cold temperatures, existed in the Colonies section of the galaxy. Its location was identified as M-8 on the Standard Galactic Grid. It served as the original homeworld for the Arkanian species.
Situated at coordinates M-8 on the Standard Galactic Grid within the [Colonies](/article/colonies] region of the galaxy was the cold planet known as Arkania. Arkania was the place where the Arkanian species originated, it was their homeworld. Living on this frigid world led the Arkanians to evolve and gain infrared vision. A common agricultural product on Arkania was root vegetables. The world shared its name with the creatures referred to as Arkanian dragons.
By 228 BBY, the Tarkos family had already been one of Arkania's most distinguished families for several centuries. Members of this family rose to prominent positions, including general, governor, leading scientist, and even Jedi. In the weeks that followed the Battle of Endor, the New Republic engaged in a battle on Arkania that involved fighting on the ground.
The first mention of Arkania was in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game, which was released in 2016 by Fantasy Flight Games.
Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, Arkania made its debut appearance in Tales of the Jedi 1, a comic published in 1993.
