Axe, a clone trooper pilot, fought for the Galactic Republic within the naval forces' Blue Squadron during the conflict known as the Clone Wars. In the year 21 BBY, a Republic fleet, under the command of Jedi General Anakin Skywalker, was sent to the planet of Ryloth. Their mission was to penetrate the blockade in orbit, established by the Confederacy of Independent Systems and commanded by the Neimoidian Captain Mar Tuuk. During this engagement, Axe and the other members of Blue Squadron, under the leadership of Skywalker's Padawan, Jedi Commander and known as Blue Leader Ahsoka Tano, launched an assault on the blockade. They soon found themselves in combat with numerous Vulture-class droid starfighters.
However, the Republic forces were eventually overwhelmed when Separatist reinforcements arrived. Blue Squadron, having suffered casualties with the loss of several of its ten pilots, received orders to pull back. As they were retreating, Axe met his death when targeted by a vulture droid. He was unable to return to the Venator-class Star Destroyer named Resolute, and the Republic was forced to flee the system.
Axe, like every other clone troopers within the Republic Military, was created by the Kaminoans. His purpose, like all clones, was to serve the Galactic Republic. He fought in the Clone Wars as Blue Two, piloting a V-19 Torrent starfighter and serving under Jedi General Anakin Skywalker aboard the Venator-class Star Destroyer known as the Resolute.
During 21 BBY, Axe relinquished his title of Squadron Commander to Jedi Commander Ahsoka Tano, allowing her to command for the first time. This resulted in Axe taking on the designation of Blue Two. With the rest of Blue Squadron, he participated in the Battle of Ryloth with the goal of breaking the Separatist Ryloth blockade. Under the command of Ahsoka Tano, the squadron made an attempt to break through the Separatist blockade surrounding the planet. When Separatist reinforcements entered the system, Commander Tano disregarded orders from Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and Admiral Wullf Yularen to immediately return to the Resolute, recklessly delaying the squadron's withdrawal.
During the retreat, Axe flew on Tano's right wing, while Swoop and Kickback took the lead positions. Axe's power converters started malfunctioning, and as he worked to repair them, he was killed by three Vulture-class droid starfighters that were pursuing his V-19.
From the moment of his creation, Axe, like his clone brethren, had a behavioral modification biochip implanted by Kaminoan scientists. This ensured he would follow certain orders without question.
