Borgo, a young Hutt, was initially brought to Freetown by members of the Red Key Raiders. Their intention was to install him in the vacant palace formerly occupied by Jabba Desilijic Tiure in the months following the Battle of Endor. However, the scheme was discovered by Sheriff Cobb Vanth and Issa-Or, who then apprehended the infant Hutt. Subsequently, Vanth sought the assistance of the beastmaster Malakili, inquiring if he could instruct the young Hutt, to which he responded affirmatively. Later, Lorgan Movellan led the Red Key forces in an invasion of Freetown. Borgo, along with Malakili and Vanth, were captured, but the Tusken Raiders liberated them by driving the Red Key forces out of the town.

In the aftermath of the Battle of Endor, Borgo, the Hutt, was quite young. In 5 ABY, Cobb Vanth, who styled himself as the Sheriff, and his Twi'lek associate Issa-Or disrupted the Red Key Raiders' plan to smuggle the Huttlet into Freetown to serve as a figurehead ruler. Vanth, finding the Huttlet challenging to control, engaged Malakili, formerly Jabba's Beastmaster, to train the Huttlet in exchange for accommodation. Malakili consented, insisting on treating Borgo as a sentient being.
Malakili took on the role of Borgo's teacher and gave him the name Borgo. Borgo developed trust in Malakili. Malakili also aided Vanth in establishing an agreement with the local Tusken Raiders. In return for the townsfolk providing the Tusken Raiders with water, the Raiders committed to staying away from Freetown and shielding it from criminal groups like the Red Key syndicate. Shortly before the Battle of Jakku, forces of the Red Key, under the leadership of Lorgan Movellan, succeeded in invading and occupying the town. Borgo, along with Malakili and Vanth, were captured by the gangsters.
Vommb and Trayness, Movellan's accomplices, carried the Huttlet wrapped in a red covering. Borgo struggled to get out of the covering. Movellan, in the presence of Vanth and Malakili, declared his intention to take the Huttlet and sell it back to the Hutts. At Movellan's command, his henchmen unfurled the tarp. Malakili moved to comfort Borgo. Movellan then announced that he would enslave the people of Freetown. While Movellan engaged Vanth, Malakili whispered into Borgo's ear. Lorgan noticed this and instructed Trayness to strike Malakili as punishment.
Upon hearing the Beastmaster's cry of pain, Borgo emitted a piercing scream. It transpired that this was the signal for the Tusken Raiders to attack the Red Key forces. The Tuskens killed the Red Key gangsters but spared the Freetown citizens, honoring their agreement with Vanth and Malakili. Vanth then overpowered Movellan and etched a message onto his face as a warning to his Red Key superiors.
Borgo, as a young Hutt, was easily influenced and could be used by adults, especially criminal organizations like the Red Key syndicate. Vanth, unable to handle Borgo himself, employed Malakili, Jabba's former Beastmaster, to educate him. Malakili became Borgo's guardian and mentor. Borgo held Malakili in high regard and followed his directions. As a Hutt, his appearance resembled a slug, with small arms and a crater-filled mouth. Borgo also produced slime and had the ability to generate a loud, high-pitched shriek that could be heard from a considerable distance. Being barely an adolescent, Borgo was small enough to be carried within a tarp.
The initial mention of Borgo appeared in Aftermath: Life Debt, a novel by Chuck Wendig, which was published on July 12, 2016. His first appearance as a minor character was in the book's sequel, Aftermath: Empire's End, which was released on February 21, 2017.
