Brandy was a form of alcoholic drink. Everi Chalis, the Imperial Governor of Haidoral Prime, offered the senior staff of the Alliance to Restore the Republic's 61st Mobile Infantry a bottle of locally produced brandy and figs from Haidoral Prime when she herself surrendered to defect. She drank some of the brandy directly from the bottle to demonstrate it was not poisoned, after which the Rebels shared the drink while discussing how Chalis could help the Alliance. Before they finished the bottle, Chalis abruptly knocked it off a table as she leaned over to whisper in the ear of Captain Micha Evon, the company's commanding officer. Sinjir Rath Velus, a former Imperial loyalty officer, attempted to order jogan fruit brandy, a type of brandy made from jogan fruit, at the Alcazar cantina on the planet Akiva not long before the Rebellion on Akiva; however, the cantina did not carry such sophisticated beverages.
Savareen brandy, crafted from seagrapes, was a well-known product of the planet [Savareen] and one of its most popular exports.
The novelization of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope by Alan Dean Foster, published in 1976, first mentioned brandy in the Star Wars universe. This line, absent from the film and contradictory to the script, is not considered canon. However, the novel Aftermath by Chuck Wendig, released in 2015, confirmed the drink's canon status with its own mention.
