Captain Phasma #4, a part of the comic book miniseries Star Wars: Captain Phasma, centers its narrative on Captain Phasma in the aftermath of the events depicted in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. Kelly Thompson penned the script for Captain Phasma #4, while Marco Checchetto provided the illustrations. Marvel Comics released it on October 18, 2017, under the banner of Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Under the cover of rainfall, Captain Phasma initiates an assault by leaping from the wall onto the R'ora stronghold's battlements, engaging the R'ora defenders. TN-3465 follows her, cautioning about their overwhelming situation and the necessity to retreat. Phasma dismisses this as the Lupr'or army descends from the battlements to join the fray. Amidst the ongoing conflict, Captain Phasma and TN-3465 advance towards the main tower, where Lieutenant Sol Rivas is being detained.
Captain Phasma instructs TN-3465 to maintain vigilance and ensure their escape route remains clear. When TN-3465 inquires about the battle, Phasma reiterates that their sole objective is Rivas. Rivas, visibly battered with a bruised eye, expresses his happiness at seeing Phasma. However, Phasma rebuffs his compliments, reminding him of their purpose. Phasma demands Rivas to confess and cleanse his conscience. Rivas, with a defiant grin, retorts that he has nothing to admit and vows to remain silent. He tauntingly reminds her that she was responsible for lowering Starkiller Base's shields, making her accountable for the superweapon's demise.
Upon Rivas's refusal to confess, Phasma fatally shoots him with her blaster. Disobeying Phasma's orders, TN-3465 witnesses Phasma's execution of Rivas to conceal her involvement in Starkiller Base's destruction. Following Phasma's departure, TN-3465 fears being discovered. In a bid for survival, the TIE fighter pilot decides to feign preoccupation with the Lupr'or's fate.
When Phasma questions her whereabouts, TN-3465 fabricates a story about encountering advancing R'ora soldiers, whom she had to repel to secure their escape route. Upon TN-3465's inquiry about Rivas, Phasma declares that the traitor has been eliminated and that it is time to leave this "worthless rock." When TN-3465 expresses false concern for the Lupr'or, Phasma dismisses their plight as doomed. TN-3465 suggests aiding them in winning the day. However, Phasma rejects the notion of assisting the Lupr'or colonists in seizing Luprora from the native inhabitants. She justifies this by asserting that the planet rejects the Lupr'or due to their unsuitability for its evolution. She contends that the colonists are nearing their end and that the R'ora, more adept in the water, will eradicate them.
As TN-3465 readies their TIE/sf space superiority fighter for departure, Phasma uses her blaster rifle's gun-sight to observe the R'ora stronghold. As the tide overwhelms the stronghold's island, she declares that the Lupr'or are destined to be forgotten. While TN-3465 is distracted, Phasma shoots and disintegrates the BB unit BB-K8. She then commands a surprised TN-3465 to raise her hands and turn around. When TN-3465 questions the shooting of BB-K8, Phasma retorts that she knows the reason.
TN-3465 attempts to deny knowledge of Phasma's wrongdoing at Starkiller Base. However, Phasma counters that TN-3465 has not grasped that she is a survivor committed to resolving all "loose ends." TN-3465 denies being a loose end and pleads ignorance. Yet, Phasma responds that her knowledge is irrelevant before fatally shooting TN-3465 with her blaster. As TN-3465 takes her last breath, Phasma assures the dying pilot of a swift death, closes her eyes, and gently lays her on the rock. Before departing, Phasma remarks that "even one loose end is one too many."
While preparing her TIE fighter for takeoff, Captain Phasma updates her audio report. In the four days following the Battle of Starkiller Base, Phasma claims to have located and killed Rivas for his involvement in lowering the weapon's Deflector shields. Phasma also asserts that TN-3465 and BB-K8 perished during the mission.
Upon returning to the First Order fleet, Phasma docks in the hangar of the Resurgent-class battlecruiser Finalizer. General Armitage Hux expresses his relief at her return, fearing her demise. When Hux questions her unauthorized absence, Phasma recounts her pursuit to eliminate Lieutenant Rivas for his supposed role in Starkiller Base's destruction. Satisfied, General Hux permits her to resume her divisional duties, promising further discussion after her debriefing.
Hux, believing her narrative, remarks that he should have known that not even a planet's destruction could kill her or hinder her dedication to the First Order. Gazing through a large glass window at the assembled First Order fleet, Phasma replies "indeed," confident that her true allegiance to herself and her concealed secrets remain hidden from the First Order.
