The Chandrilan Embassy, alternatively called the Mothma household, functioned as the official representation of Chandrila to the Galactic Empire. It was located on the planet Coruscant. It also served as the home on Coruscant for the Chandrilan senator Mon Mothma, her husband Perrin Fertha, and their daughter, Leida.
The embassy was owned by the state and featured white walls and several small potted trees. Because it was a state-owned building with strict rules about acceptable decorations, the Mothmas had limited decorating options, and the designs remained somewhat dated by 5 BBY. The apartment also included a sizable dining room and a living room, both large enough to accommodate numerous guests. Mothma and Fertha hosted several parties at the embassy, including a dinner for the governor of Hanna City, who was a long-time friend of Fertha.
The Chandrilan Embassy was initially shown in the teaser trailer for the Andor television program, which debuted on May 26, 2022. Its first full appearance was in "Aldhani," the fourth episode of the series, which was broadcast on September 28, 2022. Its identification was first made in the audio description of "Narkina 5," the eighth episode of the series, which was broadcast on October 26, 2022.
Scenes set in the embassy were shot on a physically constructed set. Production designer Luke Hull and costume designer Michael Wilkinson collaborated on the set's creation. VFX producer TJ Falls and his team constructed a specialized LED screen utilizing StageCraft technology, which was wrapped around the embassy set. Wilkinson designed Mothma's costume to blend in with the set's aesthetics.
