Perrin Fertha

At the age of fifteen, Perrin Fertha was a student at an academy on his homeworld, Chandrila. His contemporaries included Mon Mothma and Tay Kolma. Mothma described Fertha as a "firebrand" during his time as a student. In accordance with Chandrilan custom, Fertha and Mothma were married one year before she commenced her political career as a senator at the age of sixteen. Following their marriage, they established their residence at the Chandrilan Embassy in Coruscant, the galactic capital. Their daughter was named Leida Mothma.

During the era of the Galactic Empire, Fertha served as the consort to Mon Mothma, who was a member of the Imperial Senate. In 5 BBY, Fertha hosted a dinner party for his friend from his regiment, who was the governor of Hanna City. However, he caused displeasure to his wife by inviting Ars Dangor and Sly Moore, both members of the Imperial Ruling Council who frequently opposed her and, just the day before, had severed the Ghorman shipping lanes, resulting in starvation.

The following morning, Fertha joined Mothma and their daughter, Leida, for breakfast. He remained neutral as the two began to argue, and Leida asserted that her mother was only considering her own interests, which upset his wife. Later that evening, Fertha and Mothma attended an event together. While traveling in a speeder, Fertha commented that he noticed her observing his conversation with Gar Tafeed, who, according to Fertha, possessed more information about her activities than he did. Fertha then inquired when she intended to inform him about her new foundation. Mothma responded that she believed he wouldn't be interested because it was for charitable purposes. Ignoring her remark, Fertha asked Mothma for the driver's name. Mothma reminded him, for the second time that day, that it was Kloris, and Fertha then addressed him, instructing him to take the Expressway.

Shortly after, Mothma hosted a party at their home, which Fertha attended. During the gathering, he suggested to Leida that she should ask Mothma if she wanted to be excused, which she did. Later, Fertha approached Mothma, who was conversing with Tay Kolma in the living room, and inquired if they were reminiscing about their school days, reminding them of an upcoming reunion. Mothma then joined Fertha to engage with the other guests.

Perrin Fertha was a male human characterized by fair skin, graying hair, and a beard. Luthen Rael noted that Fertha had an interest in military artifacts, although Mothma stated that she was attempting to broaden Fertha's interests beyond implements of war. Fertha, a charming and superficial individual who had embraced luxury and gambling, appreciated the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Coruscant and the comforts afforded by his family's status. In this regard, he stood in stark contrast to his wife, Mothma, who possessed an idealistic and conscientious nature as the senator of Chandrila. However, according to Mothma, Fertha was the "academy firebrand" when he was fifteen years-old.

Fertha dismissed Mothma's concerns, such as the Empire's treatment of the Ghorman people, as "boring and sad." He associated with his wife's political adversaries, including Sly Moore and Ars Dangor, whom he described as "fun" in comparison to Mothma. Nonetheless, despite their contrasting personalities, Mothma was surprised to discover that Fertha did not encourage their daughter's interest in traditional Chandrilan practices, even stating that he was "open-minded" regarding the customs of their homeworld.

Alastair Mackenzie played Perrin Fartha. His debut appearance was in "Aldhani," the fourth episode of the live-action series Andor, which was released on September 28, 2022. He was first shown in the documentary Andor: A Disney+ Day Special Look, which was released on September 8, 2022. Andrei Riabovitchev, an artist, created concept art for Fertha based on the design of costume designer Michael Wilkinson. The scenes set in the Chandrilan embassy were filmed on a practically built set that featured a wraparound LED screen that utilized StageCraft technology. Tom Hoeler, an editor, confirmed Fartha's appearance in the Reign of the Empire trilogy and humorously suggested adding "who sucks" after each mention of the character's name.
