Leesis
Within the Outer Rim Territories and the Slice, there existed a terrestrial moon called Leesis. This moon was in orbit around the planet Christophsis. During the Battle of Christophsis, which took place in the era of the Clone Wars, Galactic Republic starships under the command of Jedi General Anakin Skywalker sought refuge behind Leesis. This occurred after their initial attempts to penetrate the Separatist blockade of Christophsis. From this position behind the moon, the Republic launched a prototype stealth ship with the intention of bypassing the enemy fleet and providing essential supplies to the people of Christophsis.
Description
Located within the Savareen sector of the Outer Rim Territories and [the Slice](/article/the_slice], Leesis was a moon that orbited the planet Christophsis, a part of the Christoph system. Leesis's location can be found at square Q-16 on the Standard Galactic Grid. This moon, with its terrestrial nature, displayed a light-colored surface distinguished by the presence of significant fissures.
History
In 22 BBY, during the Clone Wars' Battle of Christophsis, Galactic Republic naval forces commanded by Jedi General Anakin Skywalker strategically positioned their ships in front of Leesis. Their objective was to break through the Separatist blockade of Christophsis and deliver crucial relief supplies to Senator Bail Organa, who had established a refugee camp for the Christophsian population on the planet's surface. After failing to penetrate the defenses commanded by Separatist Admiral Trench, Skywalker directed his ships to seek shelter behind Leesis when Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi's task force arrived in the system.
While Kenobi remained with the main fleet on the far side of the moon, Skywalker assumed control of the IPV-2C Stealth Corvette, a stealth ship prototype brought by Kenobi. Skywalker's mission was to slip past the blockade and deliver essential aid to Christophsis. Noticing the Republic's apparent cessation of their attack, Trench ordered his Hyena-class Droid Bombers to attack Organa's camp, hoping to force the Republic out from behind Leesis. This bombing run caused Skywalker to change his strategy, targeting Trench directly. This action led to the destruction of the Separatist cruiser, enabling Kenobi's forces to directly engage the remaining blockade.
Behind the scenes
Leesis made its debut in "Cat and Mouse," which was the sixteenth episode of the second season of the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The episode was originally broadcast on March 26, 2010. Initially, it was simply referred to as "Christophsis's moon," but it received the name "Leesis" in the 2017 reference book titled Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia.
