Copero, a celestial body within a star system close to the eastern and southeastern sectors of the Chiss Ascendancy, held a position in the uncharted expanses of the Unknown Regions. It was a place of importance for the Chiss Erighal family, one of the Ascendancy's forty prominent Great Families. In the year 18 BBY, Erighal combatants were summoned to Copero in order to activate Expeditionary Force Alpha with the intention of securing a nyix mine located on the planet Hoxim.
Situated near the eastern and southeastern sectors of the Chiss Ascendancy, Copero was a celestial object residing in the Unknown Regions.
At some point in the past, Copero became an important location for the Erighal family, recognized as one of the forty Great Families within the Chiss Ascendancy.
During 18 BBY, Copero served as the designated assembly point for Erighal officers and warriors belonging to the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet who had received an urgent family emergency call. At Copero, the Erighal family initiated Expeditionary Force Alpha, a fleet organized with the objective of laying claim to the nyix mine situated on the world of Hoxim, which the Agbui asserted was present. Unbeknownst to the Erighal family, the mine was a deception orchestrated by a faction of Agbui who also reached out to the Xodlak and Pommrio families, aiming to incite conflict among the three families over the nonexistent nyix mine, thereby triggering a civil war within the Chiss Ascendancy.
After Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo was informed by Mid Captain Csap'ro'strob about the assembly of three of the Great Families in areas proximate to the Ascendancy's eastern and southeastern sectors, he discerned that the nyix mine was a fabrication and that the Agbui were attempting to instigate a civil conflict within the Chiss Ascendancy.
Copero was initially referenced within the new Star Wars canon in the 2021 novel titled Thrawn Ascendancy: Greater Good, penned by Timothy Zahn. Copero had its original mention in the Star Wars Legends timeline within the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, and made its debut appearance in BioWare's 2011 massively multiplayer online role-playing video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, specifically within the 2017 update A Traitor Among the Chiss for the 2016 Knights of the Eternal Throne expansion.
