The De'Rruyet Industries confluence marked an occasion where Beol De'Rruyet, the founder who also led De'Rruyet Industries, planned to reveal his interpretation of a Nihil Path engine hyperdrive. De'Rruyet asserted this device could emulate the Nihil's methods for lightspeed travel, and the unveiling was to take place at the De'Rruyet Center located on the planet Midarr. According to Lady Domina Tagge from Tagge Corporation, the hyperdrive's launch had the potential to either reshape the galaxy's economy or bring an end to the ongoing war between the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the Galactic Empire. Tagge feared that either outcome would be financially devastating for her corporation. Consequently, Tagge engaged the services of Doctor Chelli Aphra, a rogue archaeologist, tasking her with uncovering the source of De'Rruyet's device and verifying its functionality.
As the date of the confluence approached, Aphra and Sana Starros, a smuggler, made a discovery: the hyperdrive was a fraudulent device. They learned that any attempt at a lightspeed jump would cause the ship to self-destruct, resulting in the death of the pilot. They then understood that if the device were activated during the confluence, it would kill everyone in attendance. The pair also found that De'Rruyet, growing insecure about the engine's performance, had secretly arranged a one-way trip to Mon Cala in case the Path engine failed to function as promised.
On the day of the confluence, General Vukorah from the Unbroken Clan forcibly entered the center, seeking to seize the hyperdrive for her own purposes. She took De'Rruyet and his staff hostage, demanding the engine be activated, and killed De'Rruyet's employees as she grew impatient. While Starros worked to evacuate the employees from the center to a secure location, Aphra, under the pretense of repairing the Path engine for Vukorah, secretly disabled it. When Imperial stormtroopers arrived to compel the Unbroken Clan forces to surrender, a violent exchange of fire erupted. A random blaster bolt struck the hyperdrive, triggering an explosion. This incident marked the end of De'Rruyet Industries as a viable entity and ruined De'Rruyet's life.
