Following the battle that brought an end to the Trade Federation's invasion of the planet Naboo, a solemn ceremony was conducted in Theed: the funeral of Qui-Gon Jinn. This service mourned the loss of Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, who met his end at the hands of the Sith Lord Darth Maul during the aforementioned conflict. The Jedi funeral saw the attendance of numerous important figures. These included Yoda, Mace Windu, and various members of the Jedi High Council, alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. Representing Naboo were Queen Padmé Amidala, Boss Nass, and Jar Jar Binks. Also present was the newly-elected Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, secretly the Sith Lord Darth Sidious. Count Dooku, Jinn's former mentor, opted not to attend, explaining that his presence would not be "pleasant".
During the service, Jinn's remains were cremated on a ceremonial pyre. Despite his training, which aimed to achieve an eternal consciousness, his body did not vanish upon death, indicating the incompleteness of his training. Kenobi then informed Skywalker that he would take on the role of Skywalker's master, a decision approved by the Jedi Council to allow Skywalker's entry into the Jedi Order. Furthermore, Yoda and Windu engaged in a discussion regarding the resurgence of the Sith, contemplating whether Darth Maul held the position of master or apprentice, acknowledging the two Sith's established rule.
