Harte Secur

Harte Secur was a city for Humans on the planet of Naboo, situated on a peninsula to the south of Lake Vis. The city was designed around a central courtyard that included a command center, surrounded by a paved area with various civilian and military structures. To defend against attack, Harte Secur was fortified with turrets and shield generators. The Harte Secur Airbase was positioned southwest of the city, and it was well-known as a training facility for some of Naboo's most skilled pilots. An external Research Center and an aquatic shipyard also supported the city's functions.

During the Invasion of Naboo in 32 BBY by the Trade Federation, a Naboo team managed to steal a Droid control program that kept the Trade Federation Droid Army operational. They brought it to the Harte Secur research center. The Naboo were able to use the program to deactivate a portion of the Droid Army, prompting Viceroy Nute Gunray to order battle droid OOM-9 and a task force to recover it. After breaching the research center, a technician brought a deactivated battle droids camp back online.

OOM-9 then received orders to utilize the reactivated droids to obliterate Harte Secur, overwhelming its defenses, which included troopers, speeders, and mechs. Following this, the Trade Federation took control of Harte Secur, constructing a new command center on top of the ruins. Later on, the Gungans planned an assault against the Trade Federation in what would become the Battle of Naboo. They needed fambaa beasts, which were being held at Camp Six near Harte Secur. Boss Rugor Nass commanded the Gungan Grand Army to attack Camp Six, and then to liberate Harte Secur, with the goal of drawing the Trade Federation forces away from Theed, Naboo's capital.

Naboo city

Overview and northwestern side

Naboo, Harte Secur's location

Harte Secur was a city located on the planet of Naboo, populated by Human Naboo citizens who pledged allegiance to the Royal House of Naboo. You could find it on a peninsula south of Lake Vis, marked by various treelines along its coast. Bricks paved the majority of Harte Secur's surface, and its architectural style mirrored that of Theed, the capital of Naboo. Three stone paths provided access to the city from the south, each protected by a pair of turrets and a shield generator. Positioned between the western and central entrances were three houses, a gazebo, and a power core.

The northwestern section of the city featured buildings on both sides of its road. The westernmost side contained a tower, six houses, another power core, and a mech factory. At the corner of this area, there was a power core, a power station, and a troop center, in addition to a temple and a house situated on a small, grass-covered hill adorned with flowers. On the eastern side of this part of Harte Secur, you could find a prefab shelter, a War Center accompanied by a power core and a nearby turret, two more prefab shelters next to a heavy weapons factory, another power core, a troop center, a fortress, another power core, and a Research Center.

Center and eastern areas

The shipyard outside of Harte Secur

The central area of Harte Secur was enclosed by walls in a rectangular configuration, featuring a large archway for entry. Inside, a body of water was surrounded by a fenced pathway. Six obelisks were evenly spaced on either side of the water. A command center was constructed at the highest point of the central courtyard, flanked by two turrets and two power cores. The area to the north of the command center was densely wooded.

The eastern side of the city featured three houses, a power core, two different types of turrets, and a mech factory, all situated on a paved area that ended at a rise in the ground to the north. This elevated area was covered with a variety of trees and flowers, along with a power core. At its flat summit, another paved area was built up, containing a turret, two prefab shelters, another turret, a spaceport, a prefab shelter, two houses, and an airbase in clockwise order.

The research base south of Harte Secur

Several facilities connected to Harte Secur were located to the south of the city proper. Immediately south of the city was a base that housed a research center, two turrets, and a power core. This base was situated on a paved path and enclosed by a light wall, with a gate on its eastern side. The gate opened onto a path leading northward, which branched off into the eastern and central entrances to Harte Secur. The river surrounding Harte Secur flowed south along the western side of the city, encircling the research base before turning eastward.

Along the path to the western entrance of the city, a small fishing facility could be found, consisting of two shipyards, an animal nursery, a turret, a sentry post, and a power core. Five utility trawlers were used to harvest fish from the river at this location. The western path leading out of the city went south to the Harte Secur Airbase, which was operated by the Naboo Airforce. Many of Naboo's most accomplished pilots were stationed there. Hidden within the forest to the east of the city was a base belonging to the Gungans, a species native to Naboo.

Trade Federation occupation

Following the attack by the Trade Federation during the Invasion of Naboo, the Trade Federation Droid Army occupied Harte Secur.

History

Capture

The capture of Harte Secur

In 32 BBY, the Trade Federation invaded Naboo, so Harte Secur was strengthened in anticipation of a potential assault. The Trade Federation Droid Army set up a camp directly south of Harte Secur. Early in the invasion, Force Command Two, a team from the Royal Naboo Security Forces, successfully seized a droid control program from the Trade Federation battle droid designated OOM-14. This program was transported to the Harte Secur research base, where it was used to disable OOM-14's forces stationed at the nearby camp. Concerned that the program could be copied and used to turn the Droid Army against him, Nute Gunray, the Trade Federation Viceroy, tasked OOM-9, a B1-series battle droid, with the mission of recovering the droid control program.

OOM-9's initial destination was the Deactivated Camp, where he met up with a task force sent to retrieve the program. This force included five droidekas, a bio cannon, and a Neimoidian technician. The task force advanced toward the research base along the eastern path, engaging groups of royal troopers from Harte Secur guarding the route and using the cannon to destroy several turrets. Upon reaching the research center, the droids killed the five troopers and seven Elite Royal Crusaders protecting it and recovered the program. After its reactivation, OOM-9, acting on Gunray's orders, directed his expanded army toward Harte Secur, entering through one of the entrances defended by two turrets. OOM-9 deployed his droidekas to eliminate the nearby troopers while the cannon destroyed the turrets.

The bio cannon then advanced into the courtyard to destroy the command center, with the battle droids providing protection by blocking the archway entrance. The defenders of Harte Secur, consisting of sixteen troopers, seven Royal crusaders, four steadfast tanks, four champion mechs, two heavy champions, three Naboo energy catapults, four V-19 landspeeders, and two advanced Tuskcat Troopers, rushed in to defend their city. However, they were unable to prevent the Trade Federation from destroying the command center and seizing control of Harte Secur.

Occupation and liberation

During their invasion, the Trade Federation continued to occupy the ruins of Harte Secur, establishing Camp Six nearby to hold fambaas, creatures native to Naboo that the Trade Federation intended to skin and sell. When the Trade Federation shifted its focus to suppressing the Gungans, a mariner captured at Harte Secur informed OOM-9 about Ganne, a Gungan boss from the town of Rellias, which eventually led to an attack on the Gungans. Later, Rugor Nass, the leader of the Gungans, organized the Liberation of Harte Secur to reclaim the use of fambaas for the Gungan Grand Army in the Battle of Naboo.

Behind the scenes

Harte Secur was initially mentioned in the Prima Games strategy guide—published on November 7, 2001—for the LucasArts video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, which was released on November 11, 2001. The game features it as an objective for the player to attack in "Behind the Lines," the second level of the Trade Federation campaign, and "The Liberation of Harte Secur," the sixth level of the Gungan campaign.

The depiction of Harte Secur in "Behind the Lines" varies between the strategy guide and the game itself. The strategy guide describes the central courtyard as being located outside of Harte Secur, with the command center situated to its north. Despite this, the guide still advises players to position their cannon in the courtyard, as it can still target the command center from that location. In the game, the command center is located within the courtyard.
