The Hunter Fleet, alternatively known as the Hunter Squad, was a Galactic Empire assault group that was established in the aftermath of the Battle of Hoth amidst the Galactic Civil War. This assault group received its command from Navy Commander Ellian Zahra, with the mission of annihilating the fleet belonging to the Alliance to Restore the Republic, and it conducted operations throughout the galaxy. Shortly following the Duel on Cloud City, Zahra successfully located both the Fourth Division and the Eighth Division, launching a simultaneous attack on them.
During a battle near Malastare, Zahra's forces obliterated the Eighth Division, whereas the Fourth Division, managing to escape due to the timely arrival of the Millennium Falcon, sustained ten percent casualties during the battle at Rendezvous Point Delta-Three. Subsequently, the Tarkin's Will destroyed the Sixth Division.
The combined firepower of the Fourth and Seventh Divisions forced the battle group to retreat during the battle at Elessia. Later, during Operation Starlight, the Battle of Ab Dalis saw Starlight Squadron kill Admiral Kalaxo and Lieutenant Bonnard aboard their ISD, leading to the loss of the Ultima II as they attempted to eliminate the Eleventh Division.
The fleet had a minimum of four Imperial-class Star Destroyers, including the Tarkin's Will as its flagship, along with fourteen Arquitens-class command cruisers. An Interdictor vessel, instrumental in the destruction of the Eighth Division, also reinforced the fleet. Furthermore, Zahra's naval strength encompassed TIE fighters of the TIE/ln, TIE/sa, and TIE/rb models.
