A device employed for extracting information from prisoners, alternately referred to as an interrogation chair, torture table, torture chair, or information extraction apparatus, was a torture device. The Inquisitors of the Galactic Empire made use of these contraptions. A similar chair was utilized by the First Order; one such chair, equipped with numerous devices that inflicted pain throughout a prisoner's body, was located on the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Finalizer and employed by the dark warrior Kylo Ren on those he captured. Another comparable chair was situated within Starkiller Base.
Commander Poe Dameron was interrogated by Kylo Ren using the chair aboard the Finalizer; Ren sought to ascertain the whereabouts of the map fragment that would lead to Luke Skywalker's location. Later, after taking Rey to Starkiller Base, he utilized the chair on her, attempting to extract Skywalker's location from her mind through the Force, leveraging her memories of seeing the map. However, this strategy backfired when Rey managed to probe Ren in return, uncovering his fear of not being as powerful as his grandfather and idol, the notorious Imperial enforcer Darth Vader. Subsequently, she attempted a Mind trick on the stormtrooper tasked with guarding her, ultimately succeeding on her third attempt. This resulted not only in the trooper leaving the door unlocked, but also in loosening her restraints, facilitating her easy escape. Upon discovering this, Ren, in a fit of rage, destroyed the chair, causing two Stormtroopers to evacuate the area upon hearing the commotion.

During the early rebellion aimed at opposing the Galactic Empire, The Grand Inquisitor, who was the leader of the Inquisitorius, made use of the chair to interrogate Kanan Jarrus, the leader of Spectres and former Jedi Padawan. The chair was housed aboard the ISD Sovereign, the flagship of Governor Wilhuff Tarkin. The Grand Inquisitor employed it to brutally interrogate Kanan, seeking information about his cell and their contact, Fulcrum. The chair, along with the Sovereign and the Grand Inquisitor, were all lost on Mustafar.
Arihnda Pryce, the governor of Lothal, then showcased the chair's capabilities to several cadets from Skystrike Academy. Ria Talla, who was revealed to be Sabine Wren, was intended to be placed in the chair for interrogation by Pryce. However, Sabine fought her way out and knocked Pryce into the chair, where she was shocked by its electrical conduits. Subsequently, Grand Admiral Thrawn, the commander of the Seventh Fleet's, and Governor Pryce used a similar chair on Hera Syndulla, a General in the Rebel Alliance, at the Imperial Complex located on Lothal.
The interrogation chair that was used on Hera Syndulla in the Star Wars Rebels episode entitled "Jedi Night" was a modified and slightly altered version of the interrogation rack that was used on Kanan Jarrus in the episode titled "Fire Across the Galaxy."
