"Jedi Night" marks the tenth installment of the fourth season of the animated series Star Wars Rebels. It was initially broadcast on February 19, 2018.
The episode commences with Kanan Jarrus in a meditative state within the wilderness of Lothal. During his meditation, Kanan reflects through flashbacks on moments spent with Ezra Bridger, Hera Syndulla, and Sabine Wren. A white loth-wolf observes Kanan as he meditates in the grass. As Ezra approaches, Kanan informs his Padawan that he must spearhead the effort to retrieve Hera. When Ezra suggests that his mentor should lead, Kanan clarifies that his feelings for Hera could potentially complicate the mission. Kanan assigns Ezra the task of planning the mission, emphasizing the need to save both Hera and everyone else.
Simultaneously, at the Dome, Governor Arihnda Pryce oversees the torture of Hera, who is being subjected to electrocution. Pryce mocks Hera regarding her "lovely" voice. Grand Admiral Thrawn arrives and inquires if she has disclosed the location of the Rebel Fleet, Pryce responds that she has not yet begun questioning her, while Hera cries out in pain. Thrawn interrogates Hera, but she remains resistant. Thrawn praises her determination and presents her family's Kalikori.
Thrawn explains to Hera his fascination with the deeper meaning behind his collected items. Thrawn infers that the Kalikori holds significant symbolic value for his adversary. Thrawn deduces that the shapes depicted on the Kalikori represent individuals of importance to her. He identifies one of the designs as representing a deceased loved one. Hera retorts that he is unworthy of possessing it. Thrawn responds that the Kalikori's legacy will end with her and that its new owner will appreciate it. He leaves Governor Pryce, who lacks any appreciation for art, to continue torturing Hera.
Ezra is in a meditative state atop his former "roost." Zeb is becoming impatient, but Sabine silences him. Ezra senses that Hera is confined within the "Dome" in Governor Pryce's office. Sabine adds that Pryce's office is situated on Level 157 in Block D. Zeb questions how they will navigate past the numerous patrols, gun turrets, and watchtowers. Ezra suggests infiltrating using gliders. Sabine endorses Ezra's concept, reasoning that the Empire is prepared for sophisticated weaponry and targets, and thus would not anticipate a low-tech approach like gliding. Zeb expresses skepticism about the plan's viability, but Ezra assures them of its success, suggesting they disguise themselves as loth-bats.
Ezra proposes flying over the garbage chute located at the southern entrance of the Imperial complex to evade detection. Sabine agrees to construct the gliders when Zeb inquires how. As Ezra, Sabine, Zeb, and Chopper assemble the Loth-bat gliders, Kanan trims his hair and shaves his beard using a knife, guided by the Force. Ryder Azadi, Mart Mattin, and Jai Kell observe the Spectres completing the gliders. Ezra prepares to contact Kanan, but Kanan is already prepared to join their mission to rescue Hera. Zeb later remarks to Kanan that his blindness is advantageous, as he doubts the contraptions would function without the Force.
For the operation, Ezra and Sabine don stolen TIE fighter pilot uniforms. They, along with Kanan, secure themselves to the gliders, while Zeb and Chopper utilize a speeder bike to tow them. Once airborne, the gliders detach from the speeder bike. Zeb instructs them to bring Hera back as he and Chopper observe the sunset over Lothal.
Above Lothal, Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin communicates with Thrawn via hologram from aboard the Chimaera. Tarkin informs Thrawn that his TIE/d "Defender" Multi-Role Starfighter program is in jeopardy due to Orson Krennic's persuasive efforts to divert funding to his Stardust initiative. Thrawn asserts that the Emperor has assured the Chiss of his support for the TIE Defender project. Tarkin concedes that Director Krennic's project has only incurred expenses and excuses over the years. He informs Thrawn that to continue the Defender's construction, he must directly present his case to the Emperor. The Governor of the Outer Rim has already arranged the meeting. Thrawn assures Tarkin that he will depart immediately, instructing Commander Hammerly to notify Governor Pryce of his departure to Coruscant.
In the streets of Capital City, two stormtroopers hear the screeching of loth-bats, with one remarking that they are only slightly more advanced than the loth-cats they encountered and were attacked by. The Noghri tracker Rukh inquires if they have any reports and begins sniffing around. The Spectres pilot their loth-bat gliders over the streets of Capital City. They land on the rooftop of an Imperial office undetected. Kanan commends Ezra on his plan, with Ezra informing him that Pryce's office is six levels below. Ezra and Sabine depart to locate an escape transport. Before leaving, he wishes them the Force be with them. Ezra and Sabine ascend a stairwell, while Kanan employs magnetic climbers to descend to Hera's torture chamber. Ezra and Sabine pass by several stormtroopers in the corridors below.
With Hera refusing to disclose the location of the Rebel fleet, Governor Pryce opts to subject her to a mind probe using an IT-O Interrogator droid. Pryce smirks as Hera is injected with a truth serum. Governor Pryce reiterates her demands as Hera's vision blurs. However, she notices Kanan. Pryce dismisses it as a delusion and grants her a respite. Rukh requests an audience with Pryce, who leaves a pair of stormtroopers to guard her. Hera warns the stormtroopers that they are in "terrible trouble" and wonders how Kanan will infiltrate.
Kanan severs the floor beneath one of the troopers, causing him to fall to his death. The remaining stormtrooper LS-261 calls for reinforcements, but Kanan throws him out the window. Kanan then impales the IT-O droid with his lightsaber and disposes of it through the hole he created. Hera jokes that the droid deserved it. After Kanan frees her, they embrace, and she playfully remarks that she "hates" his hair. Kanan retorts that it was the best he could manage without a mirror. Kanan informs Hera that he has recovered her Kalikori as a gift. Hera does not consider the Kalikori a gift since it belongs to her family.
The pair escapes before Pryce, Rukh, and several death troopers force their way into Pryce's office. Rukh sniffs for the rebels' scent, while Pryce orders the base to be locked down and gunships to be mobilized. She also instructs the death troopers to eliminate them on sight. In the Imperial Complex's hangar, alarms sound, and Ezra and Sabine realize that Kanan has successfully rescued Hera. She says that she will fly the patrol transport. Sabine neutralizes the transport's pilot, while Ezra informs the Stormtrooper Commander that he is a backup pilot.
Rukh pursues Kanan and Hera as they ascend back to the garbage chute. Hera attempts to express her feelings for Kanan but instead compliments the kids' gliders. Kanan tells Hera there something he needs to tell her. Before Kanan can speak, they are ambushed by Rukh. Kanan engages Rukh, who wields an electrostaff. Rukh disarms Kanan, causing his lightsaber to fall to the ground. Kanan throws Rukh off the building. The Spectres are then attacked by death troopers. Hera shoots one and Kanan shoots another. The two escape on one of the loth-bat gliders while Rukh clings to a balcony.
One of the glider's wings sustains damage from a blaster bolt. Hera manages to guide the glider toward the Lothal City fuel depot. Meanwhile, Governor Pryce learns that the rebels are heading to the fuel depot and deploys several AT-AT walkers to trap them there. Kanan and Hera crash-land the damaged glider at the fuel depot. They survive the crash, with Kanan joking that this was one of Hera's better crashes. Hera retorts that she never crashes and that it was a rough landing.
Kanan contacts Sabine via comlink. Ezra cheers upon hearing the news and claims that he enjoys flying to the bemused stormtroopers. Kanan requests a pick up at the central fuel pod of the depot. Sabine removes her helmet while Ezra tells the stormtroopers that this where they get off. Sabine veers the patrol transport, causing the stormtroopers to fall out. Sabine then shoots down another patrol transport with Ezra using his lightsaber to hurl a blast at the second transport, causing it to crash.
Kanan and Hera reach the summit of the central fuel pod. Hera professes her love for Kanan, and they share a passionate kiss. Sabine and Ezra arrive in their stolen patrol transport to find Kanan and Hera embracing. Before their departure, Governor Pryce arrives with a phalanx of AT-AT walkers. She commands her AT-AT pilots to target the central fuel pod. Despite the pilot's hesitation, Pryce reiterates that it is a direct order. The lead AT-AT unleashes a salvo that ignites the central fuel pod.
The other Spectres witness Kanan employing the Force to contain the explosive wave. Hera rushes toward Kanan, but he uses the Force to propel her back into the transport. In his final moments, Kanan gazes at Hera and Ezra, and his eyes briefly regain their turquoise hue, restoring his vision and fulfilling the promise he made to her before leaving for Malachor. Kanan then redirects his focus to push the transport back with the Force, enabling it to escape the impending explosion, and is then engulfed by an explosive wave that ignites the other pods in the Imperial fuel depot. The surviving Spectres escape aboard the patrol transport as the fuel depot detonates.
