Kadir, an aged Human male from Taris, toiled as a janitor within the South Apartments of the Upper City. Taris itself was an Outer Rim planet, and the events occurred around 3956 BBY. Tenants frequently voiced discontent with Kadir's performance, yet he maintained that he exerted his utmost effort given the tools at his disposal. In that year, he crossed paths with Revan, a former Sith Lord grappling with the implanted memories of a Republic soldier. Kadir addressed Revan's inquiries and pointed him towards noteworthy locations in the vicinity.

Born on the Outer Rim planet of Taris, Kadir spent his life in the Upper City. In his younger years, he was a regular at the Upper City Cantina, considering it a prime spot for a drink and to stay informed about happenings in the Upper City. Fully aware of the swoop gangs running rampant in the ecumenopolis's lower districts, and satisfied with his Upper City existence, Kadir deliberately avoided the Lower City.
Kadir remained on his homeworld throughout his life, eventually securing employment as a janitor within the South Apartments complex of the Upper City. This complex housed non-humans who were forced to reside there illegally due to Taris's speciesist policies. While the apartment's inhabitants were typically wary of questioning outsiders, they were unconcerned by interactions with Kadir, seeing him as inoffensive and almost senile. Nevertheless, Kadir frequently faced complaints regarding the standard of his work. This caused him frustration, as he asserted that he was doing his best with the limited resources available, and his requests for enhanced equipment and an assistant were consistently ignored.

During the Jedi Civil War in 3956 BBY, which pitted the Galactic Republic against the Sith Empire, the Republic's Hammerhead-class cruiser, the Endar Spire, was attacked above Taris by the Sith fleet. In the aftermath of the conflict, several escape pods from the Spire crash-landed across Taris's surface. One such pod held Bastila Shan, a Jedi Padawan vital to the Republic's war efforts due to her potent battle meditation ability. Keen to prevent her escape, the Sith military occupied the planet, implementing martial law and a total quarantine.
A few days afterwards, Kadir was approached by Revan, the amnesiac Sith Lord and a survivor of the space battle, now bearing fabricated memories of a Republic soldier. Larrim, a Twi'lek vendor operating a kiosk in the apartments, had directed Revan to Kadir, informing him of the locals' distrust of outsiders. Kadir initially cautioned Revan against walking on the freshly cleaned floors, but eventually agreed to answer Revan's questions about the planet and himself, recognizing him as an off-worlder caught by the quarantine and the new occupant of an abandoned apartment. Kadir advised Revan to steer clear of the Lower City and provided directions to both the Upper City Cantina and the nearby equipment emporium managed by Kebla Yurt, a Human. When questioned about the ongoing quarantine, Kadir acknowledged the frustrations of the stranded off-worlders but stated that it did not affect him. He again directed Revan to the cantina, citing his limited knowledge on the matter and suggesting that people there would be more forthcoming.
Ultimately, Darth Malak, the reigning Dark Lord, grew impatient with the protracted search for Shan and ordered the orbiting fleet to decimate the [city](/article/city]-world. The ensuing orbital bombardment obliterated much of the Upper City, where Kadir both lived and worked.
Kadir was an elderly Human male, characterized by blue eyes and lightly wrinkled skin. He had receding short, gray hair. Kadir was at peace with his life and occupation on Taris. He had never ventured off-world and had no intention of doing so, which made him indifferent to the Sith occupation and quarantine.
Kadir displayed a friendly disposition and a willingness to assist others, despite admitting his limited knowledge. The residents of the South Apartments perceived him as harmless and bordering on senile, which prevented him from attracting unwanted attention, despite their general mistrust of outsiders. As a janitor, Kadir became frustrated when his work ethic or the quality of his work was criticized, such as when someone insulted him or walked on floors he had just cleaned. He was irritated by the constant rejection of his requests for improved equipment and an assistant, knowing that he was already performing to the best of his ability but still receiving complaints.
Kadir was dressed in a white and blue tunic paired with beige pants and a brown utility belt. He also wore green gloves, brown boots, and carried a minimal set of janitorial tools, which he used as effectively as possible.
Kadir's character appeared as a non-player character within the 2003 video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, a product of BioWare. Interacting with Kadir is optional and does not influence the plot, quests, or alignment. Certain dialogue choices can upset him, and if Carth Onasi, a Republic soldier, is present in the player's party when these options are chosen, he will scold Revan for antagonizing Kadir, asking if they desire to live in squalor. If the player engages Kadir in conversation again, they can inquire about his identity, which causes him to express frustration at Revan's lack of memory. After upsetting Kadir, the player has the option to apologize, prompting Kadir to reassure Revan that there are no hard feelings.
