Kara Safwan, a female human operative, served as a spy in the service of the criminal Rang Clan. In the year 10 BBY, she infiltrated a gathering aboard the First Light, the luxurious yacht belonging to Dryden Vos, a prominent crime lord within the Crimson Dawn syndicate, with the intention of acquiring intelligence. While present, Vos's personal concierge, Margo, prevented her access to the crime lord's inner sanctum. Following the yacht's arrival at the planet Vandor, Safwan socialized with an Imperial officer on the observation deck, consuming Vandor ice water.
The criminal Rang Clan employed Kara Safwan, a female human, as a spy to gather intelligence on the Crimson Dawn, a rival criminal organization. In 10 BBY, she attended a party held on the First Light, the private yacht of Dryden Vos, the crime lord in charge of Crimson Dawn.
She was present when the vessel made planetfall on Vandor, a planet, with the purpose of taking delivery of stolen coaxium. Safwan successfully mingled with the other partygoers; however, Margo, Vos's watchful concierge, grew suspicious of her motives and subtly thwarted her attempts to penetrate the crime lord's inner circle. While the singers Aurodia Ventafoli and Luleo Primoc performed, Safwan stood on the yacht's viewing platform alongside an Imperial officer, sipping Vandor ice water from a flask to maintain her focus. After the performance concluded, she and a man dressed in bright attire conferred with another pair of humans before walking past Vos himself after he descended from a higher section of the deck.
Kara Safwan's initial appearance occurred in the 2018 motion picture Solo: A Star Wars Story. Her identity was first revealed in the companion reference book, Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide, authored by Pablo Hidalgo. Kristen Hidalgo, an employee of Lucasfilm, verified on Twitter that Pablo named the character after Saf Davidson, who hosts several Star Wars podcasts.
