Kira

Kira, a celestial body, existed within both the Expansion Region and the Trailing Sectors. Its location was pinpointed as grid square N-16 within the Standard Galactic Grid. Hyperspace routes provided connections between Kira and several other astronomical locations, specifically Bacrana, Kalinda, Pax, and Wroona. During 34 ABY, a partial map of the galaxy, showing Kira's position, was observable on some screens found on the Star Cruiser Halcyon, which belonged to the Chandrila Star Line.

Behind the scenes

The first depiction of Kira within current Star Wars canon was on a galactic map in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game. This roleplaying game boxed set was released in 2016 by Fantasy Flight Games. Its first in-universe appearance was its depiction on a map in Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, an immersive roleplay experience at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida that opened to the public on March 1, 2022.

The Kira system was originally featured in Star Wars Legends continuity in the 1993 sourcebook Twin Stars of Kira, a supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games. Stephen Crane authored the section describing the star system in the book, while John Paul Lona created an illustration of the system.
