Kirtan Loor

Kirtan Loor, previously a liaison to CorSec and an operative of Imperial Intelligence, became a significant figure during the New Republic's capture of Coruscant. Ultimately, Loor evolved into one of the most persistent adversaries faced by Rogue Squadron. With an eidetic memory and a striking resemblance to a taller, younger Grand Moff Tarkin, Loor's arrogance stemmed from a sense of superiority.

Biography

Early career

In the year 2 ABY, Kirtan Loor took on the role of an Imperial liaison officer assigned to CorSec, specifically working with officers Gil Bastra, Iella Wessiri, and Corran Horn. Displaying a lack of interest in CorSec's internal workings, and even less in its personnel, Loor reveled in unnecessarily complicating straightforward cases, even allowing the killer of Horn's father to escape justice.

After enduring years of mistreatment under Loor's command, Bastra, Wessiri, and Horn devised a plan to break free from his control. Following their successful escape, Loor abandoned his liaison post, driven by a vow to hunt down the former CorSec officers and exact revenge.

He nearly intercepted Corran Horn on Garqi, where Horn, under the alias Eamon Yzalli (an aide to Prefect Mosh Barris created by Gil Bastra), was involved in a plot to liberate Lai Nootka, a Duros prisoner possessing valuable components for Horn's X-wing. Horn implicated Mosh Barris in his own fabricated "murder," prompting Loor's investigation. The two missed each other by mere hours.

Three months after the events on Garqi, Loor successfully captured Gil Bastra, although Bastra claimed he allowed the capture to divert attention from his comrades. Loor's interrogation attempt, involving a bacta tank to cure Bastra of a fatal illness, backfired when he failed to account for Bastra's allergy to bacta, resulting in Bastra's death. This setback led to Ysanne Isard's recall of Loor to Coruscant.

Employment under Isard

Upon returning to Coruscant, Loor encountered Ysanne Isard, the Director of Imperial Intelligence. Isard enlisted Loor's services, tasking him with locating and eliminating Rogue Squadron. The rationale behind Loor's selection remains unclear, although speculation suggests Isard was aware of his personal vendetta against Corran Horn, then a member of Rogue Squadron.

In collaboration with Admiral Devlia, Loor successfully tracked Rogue Squadron to their base on Talasea. However, Devlia's skepticism and distrust of Loor's abilities led him to dispatch only a single squad of stormtroopers, who were easily defeated by Rogue Squadron, though the attack resulted in the death of Lujayne Forge, one of the squadron's pilots. Following the New Republic's retaliatory strike against Devlia's headquarters on Vladet, Loor fled. He was subsequently ordered to Borleias, a strategically important planet for the New Republic's advance on Coruscant.

Upon arriving, Loor conferred with General Evir Derricote, warning him of the impending New Republic assault while simultaneously gathering intelligence on him. After Derricote successfully repelled the initial New Republic offensive, Isard instructed Loor to escort Derricote back to Coruscant.

Events on Coruscant

Following the New Republic's capture of Borleias and the deployment of Rogue Squadron on Coruscant, Loor was once again assigned to confront the squadron. This time, his objective was to delay them, allowing Isard to unleash her deadly Krytos virus on the planet's nonhuman population, thereby exerting pressure on the New Republic. To achieve this, Loor recruited Zekka Thyne and Erisi Dlarit to monitor Rogue Squadron. However, Wedge Antilles's stringent counter-espionage measures thwarted Loor's efforts to prevent the New Republic's premature capture of Coruscant.

Loor and Ysanne Isard

As the New Republic's forces closed in, Isard designated Loor as the leader of the Palpatine Counter-Insurgency Front, tasking him with conducting guerrilla warfare and terrorist attacks against the new government. In this capacity, Loor found himself under the command of Fliry Vorru, a former Corellian Moff. Vorru directed Loor to target various locations, including a bacta storage facility and a school.

Dissatisfied with his role, Loor secretly plotted to overthrow both Vorru and Isard. When he discovered a convoy transporting bacta to the New Republic, he seized the opportunity. Using twelve X-wings he had acquired, Loor planned to steal the bacta and falsely implicate Rogue Squadron in the theft. However, Isard, also aware of the convoy, alerted Warlord Zsinj. Zsinj subsequently destroyed the entire convoy, including Loor's fake Rogue Squadron.

With his scheme ruined, Loor believed Isard would uncover his betrayal. He sought refuge with the New Republic, offering to testify in Tycho Celchu's trial and reveal information about Imperial activities on Coruscant. During his defection, he was given the codename "Behemoth." However, Loor never had the chance to benefit from his defection. Isard learned of a secret witness scheduled to appear at Celchu's trial. Believing it was General Derricote, Isard dispatched Diric Wessiri, a sleeper agent and Iella Wessiri's husband, to prevent the testimony. As Loor was en route to the courthouse, Diric fatally shot him.

Loor's legacy

Despite Isard's efforts to silence him, Loor ultimately had the last word. Before his death, Loor carried an encoded datacard as a safeguard against potential assassination by the New Republic. Upon discovering the card, Horn decoded the data, revealing details of every Imperial operation, terrorist cell, and safe house on Coruscant. This information significantly aided the New Republic in enhancing Coruscant's security for the future.
