In the Outer Rim Territories and the Slice, Christophsis was a planet that had a terrestrial moon called Leesis. During the Clone Wars, specifically at the Battle of Christophsis, starships of the Galactic Republic under the command of Jedi General Anakin Skywalker sought refuge behind Leesis. This occurred after their initial attempts to break through the Separatist blockade of Christophsis failed. From this lunar position, the Republic launched a prototype stealth ship with the goal of bypassing the enemy fleet and delivering essential supplies to the Christophsian population.
As a moon, Leesis orbited the planet Christophsis, which was situated within the Christoph system in the Savareen sector. Both the Outer Rim Territories and the Slice encompassed this region. Leesis's location was designated as square Q-16 on the Standard Galactic Grid. Its surface was light-colored and characterized by prominent, extensive fissures.
In 22 BBY, during the Battle of Christophsis of the Clone Wars, naval forces of the Galactic Republic under the command of Jedi General Anakin Skywalker strategically placed their ships in front of Leesis. This was part of their effort to overcome the Separatist blockade around Christophsis and provide relief to Senator Bail Organa, who was managing a refugee camp for the Christophsian people on the planet. After failing to penetrate the defenses commanded by Separatist Admiral Trench, Skywalker directed his ships to find cover behind Leesis when Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi's task force arrived in the system.
While Kenobi stayed with the main fleet on the far side of the moon, Skywalker assumed control of the IPV-2C Stealth Corvette, a stealth ship prototype brought by Kenobi, to attempt a covert passage through the blockade and deliver assistance to Christophsis. Noticing the Republic's apparent pause in their attack, Trench ordered his Hyena-class Droid Bombers to attack Organa's camp, hoping to pressure the Republic into revealing themselves from behind Leesis. This bombing raid caused Skywalker to change his plan, targeting Trench directly. This action led to the destruction of the Separatist cruiser, allowing Kenobi's forces to directly confront the remaining blockade.
The sixteenth episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars' second season, "Cat and Mouse," which was broadcast on March 26, 2010, featured Leesis. Initially, it was simply called "Christophsis's moon," but the 2017 reference book Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia officially named it "Leesis."
