Biography

Taris shipyards

During the Galactic Civil War, Lyle Kullan, an agent of the Galactic Empire, infiltrated Rogue Squadron. He piloted a T-65B X-wing starfighter as Rogue Four, fighting alongside Commander Luke Skywalker in an attack targeting Imperial shipyards within the Taris system. The squadron was tasked with defending against TIE fighters, while A/SF-01 B-wing starfighters from Blade Squadron executed the bombing of the shipyards. Kullan grew irritated with fellow pilot and rookie Ibti Myrak, who challenged Skywalker and refused to maintain formation. This eventually escalated into a dispute between Kullan and Myrak. As Kullan prepared to engage an enemy TIE, Myrak impatiently intercepted his X-wing's target, nearly colliding with Kullan, which resulted in Skywalker reprimanding both pilots. Soon after, the B-wings deployed their ordnance, obliterating the shipyards. Upon returning to Home One, Kullan and other pilots attempted to confront Myrak regarding her dangerous conduct, but she ignored them and departed.

Cilpar system

Three days later, Draedan pirates launched an attack against the Alliance Fleet in the Cilpar system. Kullan, along with the rest of Rogue Squadron, took to the skies in their X-wings to safeguard the cruisers. Defying orders from Rogue Leader, Myrak broke formation and pursued a fleeing pirate vessel, leading her into an ambush. Kullan and the other squadron members intervened, rescuing her and eliminating the pirates.

Valo system ambush

After the Rebels lost contact with Kullan during a patrol in the Valo system, Skywalker and the rest of Rogue Squadron launched in their X-wings, only to be ambushed by an Imperial II-class Star Destroyer and its accompanying TIE fighters. It was revealed that Kullan was a double agent for the Empire, having orchestrated the trap to capture Skywalker. However, back on Home One, the grounded rookie pilot Myrak discovered Kullan's hidden communications and commandeered an X-wing to warn the Rogues. Upon her arrival, Myrak destroyed the tractor beam projectors that had ensnared Skywalker's X-wing, freeing him and enabling the squadron to pursue Kullan. Before Kullan could dock his X-wing in the Star Destroyer's hangar, the Rebel fleet, under the leadership of Admiral Gial Ackbar, arrived, forcing the Star Destroyer to jump to lightspeed, abandoning Kullan, who was subsequently taken into Rebel Alliance custody.

Personality and traits

Lyle Kullan was a human male characterized by black hair, dark-colored eyes, and a darker skin tone. He typically obeyed his squadron commander's instructions and contributed to the unit's objectives, which contrasted sharply with the independent actions of the rookie pilot Ibti Myrak, whose disobedience Kullan disapproved of. As a clandestine operative for the Empire, Kullan violated the confidence of his fellow pilots and the Rebel Alliance, ultimately exposing his true allegiance.

Equipment

Serving as a pilot for the Alliance to Restore the Republic's Rogue Squadron during the Galactic Civil War, Lyle Kullan wore the standard orange flight suit, paired with a white flight vest and life support systems. He also wore a white K-22995 light flight helmet decorated with red stripes and the Alliance crest in red.

Behind the scenes

Lyle Kullan made his debut in "Squad Goals, Part One," which initiated a two-part comic narrative featured in the eleventh edition of the 2020 comic series Star Wars Adventures. Penned by Cavan Scott and brought to life by Manuel Bracchi's illustrations, it was released on October 19, 2021.
