During the events of the Nikardun campaigns, Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo from the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet embarked on a mission to Rapacc, the native planet of the Paccosh species. His objective was to investigate the remnants of Nikardun forces within the Choas. While present on Rapacc, Thrawn and Caregiver Thalias encountered Uingali foar Marocsaa, an old acquaintance. Uingali informed them about a group of 200 refugees who had established a settlement on Rapacc. Thrawn and Thalias's prior meeting with Uingali had occurred six months earlier aboard a mining station in the system, during their mission to the Rapacc system.
Thrawn and Thalias then met with the refugees and their leader, known only as the Magys, who was seeking suicide for her people so they could join "The Great Beyond." Thrawn expressed no opposition to the Magys's suicide plan, but Thalias voiced strong disagreement. Thalias aimed to demonstrate that hope still existed for the Magys's people on their homeworld called "Sunrise." This led to a mission to that planet which became a battle.
During the mission, Thrawn gave back the Marocsaa subclan ring, which featured a chimaera, that Uingali had previously entrusted to him. Thrawn and Thalias also observed a chimaera painted on the exterior of a Nikardun blockade frigate that Uingali had commandeered.
Subsequently, Senior Captain Lakinda of the Grayshrike arrived at Rapacc with a message intended for Thrawn. However, Thrawn had already departed, and Uingali instead provided Lakinda with the coordinates for "Sunrise."
