Moda Maxa, a human female, was a member of the Cloud-Riders during the Galactic Empire's rule. She was the younger sibling of Tayshin Maxa. After the Droid Gotra sparked a gang war on the planet of Eshan, her older sister learned how to fend for herself and passed those skills down to Moda. Maxa piloted a Vulptereen Skysnipe-616D during shipjacking operations.
While serving as a Cloud-Rider, she participated in an attempt to pilfer a coaxium shipment from the Galactic Empire on the planet Vandor. They launched an assault on a 20-T Railcrawler conveyex transport carrying the valuable substance, using speeder bikes. However, they discovered that a group working for the criminal syndicate Crimson Dawn was already trying to seize the same cargo. A battle ensued between the two factions, but neither succeeded in acquiring the coaxium, as it was ultimately destroyed. During this raid, Maxa met her death when a cable ensnared her swoop, causing her to lose control and crash into a nearby mountain.
The human female known as Moda Maxa was the sister of Tayshin Maxa. Together, they were members of the Cloud-Riders, an organization that stood in opposition to both the Galactic Empire and the criminal Five Crime Syndicates. She took part in the group's shipjacking raids, piloting a Vulptereen Skysnipe-616D. During these raids, she and her sister were often challenged to races by fellow swoop rider Callixido Ryss, whom Tayshin suspected of harboring romantic feelings for Moda.
In 10 BBY, Moda, Tayshin, and Ryss joined the Cloud-Riders' leader, Enfys Nest, along with fellow riders Weazel and Benthic, on a mission to the planet Vandor. Their objective was to steal a coaxium shipment from the Empire. The coaxium was being transported via a 20-T Railcrawler conveyex transport, which the group approached on their swoops. However, they discovered that a group of criminals was already in the process of stealing their target, using a Y-45 armored transport hauler. The Cloud-Riders launched an attack on these criminals, who were led by the thief Tobias Beckett and affiliated with the Crimson Dawn syndicate. During the ensuing conflict, Ryss's swoop was shot down by Beckett.
Nest then boarded the transport and engaged in combat with Beckett, attempting to disconnect a series of cables that the criminals had attached to the vehicle from their hauler. Moda and the other Cloud-Riders began attaching their own cables to the transport car carrying the coaxium. Beckett's wife Val then detonated a section of the tracks ahead of the transport, forcing Nest to abandon her attempt to attach the cables and return to her swoop. As the transport reached the destroyed section of track and began to fall, the car carrying the coaxium was held aloft by both sets of cables, including those attached to Moda's swoop.
The two groups then dragged the car away from the tracks, each pulling in a separate direction as it approached a mountain. The criminals detached their cables at the last moment to avoid a collision, leaving the Cloud-Riders to try and support the car on their own. As they attempted to maneuver it around the mountain, Maxa's swoop became entangled in one of the other cables, causing her to lose control and crash into the mountain, where her vehicle exploded, resulting in her death. The entire mountain was then obliterated when the Cloud-Riders' remaining cables snapped, causing the shipment to plummet into the mountain and detonate.
Moda Maxa possessed skill in the Echani martial arts and engaged in training sessions with her sister Tayshin to refine their combat capabilities. While Tayshin was the more accomplished martial artist, Moda excelled as a pilot, surpassing her sister in skill. Moda showcased impeccable timing and coordination. During raids, she would often race with Callixido Ryss, who frequently challenged her due to his competitive nature. Her older sister was protective of Moda and held suspicions that Callixido Ryss's actions were indicative of his attraction towards her.
Moda Maxa was attired in brown and white robes, brown boots, and a brown Thyrsian battle helmet.
Moda Maxa made her debut appearance in the 2018 Star Wars Anthology film, Solo: A Star Wars Story. Her identity was first revealed in the accompanying reference book, Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide, authored by Pablo Hidalgo. In both the comic book Solo: A Star Wars Story Adaptation 2 and the activity book Solo: A Star Wars Story Look and Find, Moda is depicted riding her swoop in reverse.
