Mushbloom pie




The savory pie known as Mushbloom pie was the creation of Strono Tuggs, an Artiodac chef. He utilized the mushbloom fungus sourced from Kashyyyk, the homeworld of the Wookiee species. This dish was edible and a prized delicacy among the Wookiees of Kashyyyk. In 34 ABY, Tuggs included a recipe for mushbloom pie in his holiday cookbook, The Life Day Cookbook, following the release of his initial cookbook. Within, he noted that less carnivorous species could savor the pie as a delectable Life Day treat.

By 35 ABY, Mallatobuck, the wife of the Wookiee Chewbacca, prepared mushbloom pies as part of her Life Day feast. Chewbacca esteemed his wife's culinary skills above even Tuggs' renowned creations, an opinion C-3PO, the protocol droid, recorded in his book The Secrets of the Wookiees within an entry about Chewbacca's tribe.

Behind the scenes

Star Wars: The Life Day Cookbook, penned by Marc Sumerak and Jenn Fujikawa, introduced mushbloom pie in 2021. The out-of-universe recipe for the mashed-potato topping lists russet potatoes, whole milk, butter, salt, and white pepper as ingredients. The filling requires olive oil, butter, carrots, celery stalks, an onion, white mushrooms, cremini mushrooms, garlic cloves, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, oregano, paprika, salt, black pepper, and Parmesan cheese.
