Mereel Skirata

Mereel Skirata, previously identified as Null-7 or N-7 and more commonly known as Mereel, held the rank of lieutenant. He was one of the six Null-class Advanced Recon Commandos engineered for service within the Grand Army of the Republic. He received his name in honor of Jaster Mereel, the former Mandalore and mentor of Jango Fett.

Biography

Early life

At the age of two, according to their chronological development, he and his Null comrades were presented to Orun Wa, a Kaminoan scientist; Jango Fett, a bounty hunter; and Kal Skirata, a Sergeant, for assessment. During an attempt by the Kaminoans to eliminate the Nulls, he swiftly grabbed Skirata's concealed blaster and passed it to his brother Null-11, known as Ordo, who aimed it at Orun Wa. Skirata regained control of the weapon and was subsequently assigned command of the Nulls, recognized as the sole individual capable of managing them. Following this event, Kal Skirata raised the Nulls as his own sons.

Clone Wars

While serving within the GAR, Grand Army of the Republic, Mereel, in conjunction with the other Null-class ARCs, persistently sought information regarding the whereabouts of Ko Sai, a Kaminoan scientist. Their objective, alongside Kal Skirata, was to discover a method to halt the accelerated aging process affecting the clones.

Mereel took part in the black op in 21 BBY, led by Skirata, to eradicate the Separatist terrorist cells on Coruscant alongside his brother Ordo, Walon Vau, Delta Squad, Omega Squad, Etain Tur-Mukan, and Bardan Jusik.

Months later, he was involved in an unsanctioned mission to Kamino. Concealed as a typical clone trooper, he gained access to the Tipoca City computer mainframe in search of any data pertaining to Ko Sai. Despite failing to locate her, he successfully downloaded a segment of a private discussion between Palpatine, the Supreme Chancellor, and Lama Su, the Prime Minister, which revealed the existence of clandestine cloning facilities on Coruscant and the Republic's decision to discontinue clone orders from Kamino.

As the mission to find Ko Sai intensified, Mereel's unwavering patience ultimately led to the capture of the Kaminoan scientist. Recalling his unpleasant experiences with her, Mereel reintroduced himself to Ko Sai using his nerf prod, prompting Kal Skirata's concern that Mereel might lose control. Among all the Nulls, Mereel had been the most carefree and charming, and it was because of these traits that Kal chose him for this delicate part of the mission.

Subsequently, Mereel collaborated with Etain to compel Ko Sai to develop a cure for the accelerated aging of the clones, while simultaneously gaining expertise in genetics. Upon Ko Sai's suicide, Mereel gathered his brothers to "prepare" the body for shipping. Mereel's characteristic smile, which indicated he didn't have a care in the galaxy, never faltered.

Post–Clone Wars

Shortly after Order 66 was executed, Mereel and the remaining Nulls deserted and established new lives on Mandalore. When Kal nearly broke down after seeing Tallisibeth Enwandung-Esterhazy (nicknamed Scout), because she looked like Etain, Mereel helped Kal back inside their home. Mereel also got along with Kina Ha, the Kaminoan Jedi, which was amazing as he hated all Kaminoans.

Sharing the sentiments of his Null counterparts, Mereel expressed disgust towards the Empire's deployment of the FG36 virus on Gibad. Consequently, he collaborated with them to conceal themselves within the water reservoir or the fuel tank of Nyreen Vollen's ship, Cornucopia, in order to evade Imperial inspection upon retrieving Darman Skirata and Niner Skirata from Coruscant.

Personality and traits

Mereel was recognized as the most "charming, entertaining, and sociable" among the Nulls, demonstrating a relatively seamless adaptation to life beyond Kamino. Renowned as a ladies' man, his romantic involvements tended to be fleeting and inconsequential. Influenced by his example, Corr adopted a similar demeanor.

Mereel possessed a natural ability to navigate social situations with ease. At one point he "held court" in the Coruscant Security Force Staff and Social club, entertaining commandos and CSF officers alike by reciting swear words in other languages. He reacted to many situations more calmly than his brother Ordo, and had a good sense of humor, often joking around or making witty remarks.

Mereel was frequently described as a "daredevil lunatic," a trait that often caused his "father" and brothers anxiety. He sought out thrills, purposely skating on thin ice in everything from negotiations with techs to piloting and rapid-roping. Kal noticed that Mereel seemed to feel the need to take risks and excel in order to edge out of Ordo's shadow.

He also shared many traits with his Null brothers. He had a peckish appetite, and a sweet tooth, which Skirata theorized might be due to his maturation, and the metabolic need to fuel his rapid aging. Due to the Kamioans' genetic tinkering, Mereel and the other Nulls had very intense loyalties—either they would die for you, or you would end up dead. Like his brothers, Mereel was loyal only to Kal Skirata, and his family.

The Kaminoans altered the Nulls' genetic makeup, granting Mereel and his brothers exceptional memory capabilities. This proved particularly advantageous in Mereel's profession, enabling him to effortlessly memorize codes, manuals, and various other forms of information. These skills ultimately led to his specialization in slicing and genetics. However, the same genetic manipulation, coupled with his traumatic childhood, instilled in Mereel and the other Nulls a profound and unwavering animosity towards the Kaminoans.

Mereel found pleasure in piloting Gi'ka, a Wavechaser submersible acquired on Dorumaa. He favored Merr-Sonn heavy weapons; his weapons of choice were the Z-6 rotary blaster cannon and the reciprocating quad blaster.
