New Republic Military Academy
The New Republic Military Academy, also known as the New Republic Academy, served as a military institution within the New Republic. Its purpose was to evaluate and educate prospective pilots and soldiers for service in the New Republic's armed forces.
History
Following the Battle of Endor, the New Republic established a training institution called the New Academy which was located on the planet of Chandrila. These academies provided instruction in various areas, including standard flight patterns and fundamental maintenance procedures. It was observed that some highly skilled pilots failed to complete their training at these academies due to a lack of discipline in maintaining their ships.
After the Battle of Jakku in the year 5 ABY, the New Republic inaugurated a new flight academy situated on Hosnian Prime. Wedge Antilles, a seasoned pilot and starfighter combatant, held the position of head instructor at this academy. Norra Wexley also served as an instructor, and her son, Temmin Wexley, was a student there. All three individuals were veterans of the Galactic Civil War. At some point, Pade became a student at the New Academy located on Chandrila.
By 28 ABY, the curricula of the Galactic Empire's academies were being reintroduced into the training programs on Centrist worlds. This was motivated by the belief that the New Republic's academies were inferior copies of the Empire's system. Joph Seastriker, a New Republic starfighter pilot, is known to have graduated from the Academy.
Jothan Tiaan Jerjerrod initially enrolled in a military academy on the planet Ganthel before the academy's commander dispatched him to join Leia Organa's Resistance.
The farmer named Julen Rakab was invited to join the New Republic Academy, but he declined the offer.
