A female individual served as the mother to the Twi'lek named Numa, who was born four years prior to the start of the Clone Wars. This conflict involved the Galactic Republic and the Separatist Alliance. Numa, along with her father and mother, resided in a home within the small city known as Nabat. Nabat was located on the Twi'lek homeworld planet of Ryloth. Later, during the war in 22 BBY, Ryloth faced an invasion by the Confederacy's droid forces, leading to an assault on Nabat.
During this attack, Numa's mother, along with other residents including her father and uncle, were captured. Consequently, the Confederacy used them as human shields against the Republic's forces during the planet's liberation. Tragically, Numa's mother, along with her father, died before Ryloth was freed in 21 BBY. Several years following the establishment of the Galactic Empire, Numa reflected upon her family's exploitation as living shields by the Confederacy during the war.

The first indirect mention of Numa's mother occurred in "Innocents of Ryloth," which was the twentieth episode from the first season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. This episode was broadcast on March 6, 2009. She was further developed in Star Wars: On the Front Lines, a reference book from 2017 written by Daniel Wallace. This book established that Numa had a father, contrasting with the earlier reference to "parents" in "Innocents of Ryloth." Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, Numa's mother made her debut in The Clone Wars: Curfew, a part of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars comic series. This comic was written by Pablo Hidalgo, with illustrations by Katie Cook, and it was released on March 9, 2009.
