In 34 ABY, when Garra and Vi Moradi, the Resistance spy, first encountered each other, she consumed Oga's Obsession from a glass container, accidentally spraying Moradi's face with bits of the gooey substance. Garra communicated that she held authority over the outpost and desired no interference from the Resistance or their formidable adversaries, the First Order. Standing in close proximity to Moradi, the crime boss used her fingers to shatter the dish. Moradi remained unfazed by this demonstration, despite the snack's liquid causing a stinging sensation in her eyes; subsequently, she was required to cleanse blue slime from her face. Eloc Throno, a historian, featured a photograph of Oga's Obsession within his Batuu guidebook, Traveler's Guide to Batuu, authored that year, in a section highlighting Oga's Cantina as a worthwhile destination on Batuu.
Oga's Obsession initially surfaced as a beverage offered to patrons at the Oga's Cantina bar within the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge themed area, debuting at Disneyland Park on May 31, 2019. The dish was initially revealed as "Cantina mix" in a article on February 27 of the same year by D23: The Official Disney Fan Club. The following day, a StarWars.com article identified the snack for the first time as Oga's Obsession. The item is presented in a receptacle resembling a petri dish. The menu refers to it as a "provision" and characterizes it as "Minute Maid® Lemonade, Cotton Candy Flavor, and Blueberry Flavor–filled Boba, with a bursting Dried Fruit Mixture." An alcoholic variant of Oga's Obsession, known as the Rodian Ration, is exclusively available at the Walt Disney World location of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.
