The Old Republic era, alternatively referred to as the age of the Old Republic, represents an expansive epoch of time, unfolding millennia prior to the First Order-Resistance War. This extensive period commenced after the Dawn of the Jedi era, initiating with the Expansionist Period that followed the establishment of the Galactic Republic. The Republic itself was brought into being by the planets of the Core Worlds at the onset of the Old Republic Era, with the Jedi Order rising to serve as its guardian. The Galactic Republic, which thrived from approximately 25,000 BBY to 19 BBY, was also known by the name Old Republic. Significantly, it was during the Old Republic's duration that a division emerged within the ranks of the Jedi: a rogue Jedi embraced the tenets of the dark side of the Force, rejecting the principles of the light side and subsequently establishing the Sith during a conflict known as the Hundred-Year Darkness.
The Mandalorian warrior people were also a prominent faction during the Old Republic's existence. At some point within the Old Republic era, nine planets, including At Attin, were concealed from the broader galaxy for their own safety, with At Attin itself becoming regarded as a myth by much of the galaxy during the time of the New Republic. The Middle Era of the Old Republic formed a smaller segment of this larger era. The conclusion of this epoch arrived with the fall of the Old Republic. During the Old Republic's decline, the Mandalorians of House Vizsla attacked the Jedi Order on Coruscant, raiding the Jedi Temple and recovering the Mandalorian Darksaber in the process. The protocol droid ME-8D9 was thought to have been affiliated with the Jedi Order during the Old Republic era. A nearly complete set of Mandalorian rally master armor in the possession of crime lord Dryden Vos was traced back to the Old Republic era.
