House Vizsla represented one of the several houses, or political groups, that constituted Mandalorian society. Clan Vizsla was the leading clan of this house. Clan Wren and Clan Saxon were two clans that were allied with House Vizsla. Throughout Mandalorian history, House Vizsla played a central role in numerous conflicts, such as the unification of Mandalore following the death of Tarre Vizsla, a civil war during the Clone Wars period, and yet another civil war during the Imperial Era.
House Vizsla, a Mandalorian house or political faction, existed within Mandalorian society and was under the leadership of Clan Vizsla. Other Mandalorian clans such as Clan Saxon and Clan Wren were also part of House Vizsla. Tarre Vizsla, a member of House Vizsla, was the creator of the Darksaber, which became a significant symbol for the house and was held in high regard by all.
The shriek-hawk, a predatory bird originating from Mandalore, served as the house's emblem. Eventually, it also became the emblem of the Death Watch. Before the Death Watch coup, the house possessed a peacetime signet.

Tarre Vizsla, the first Mandalorian Jedi and the one who forged the Darksaber, established the House. Sometime later, the Darksaber was stored within the Jedi Temple. During the fall of the Old Republic, members of House Vizsla managed to steal Tarre Vizsla's Darksaber from the temple. Wielding the Darksaber as a symbol of authority, House Vizsla successfully conquered and united the entirety of Mandalore for a certain period.

Following the Mandalorian Civil War, Pre Vizsla, the leader of both House and Clan Vizsla, assumed the role of Governor of Concordia. While outwardly supporting the pacifist government of the New Mandalorians under Duchess Satine Kryze, Vizsla secretly commanded Death Watch in a clandestine alliance with Count Dooku's Confederacy of Independent Systems.
During the reign of the Galactic Empire, House Vizsla sided with the Empire, hoping to increase its influence under the rule of Mandalore’s Imperial Governor Gar Saxon of Clan Saxon. After a skirmish on Krownest between Clans Saxon and Wren, which saw Clan Saxon backed by the Empire, House Vizsla experienced internal conflict.
During the New Republic Era, Paz Vizsla became a member of the Tribe, a group belonging to the Children of the Watch, a religious Mandalorian sect that adhered to the Mandalorian Creed and the Way of the Mandalore. This group resided in a Mandalorian covert located on Nevarro. After Din Djarin's mission to rescue Grogu, a Force-sensitive child, Paz Vizsla and the rest of the tribe were forced into open action. This exposure led to the destruction of the covert by an Imperial remnant commanded by Moff Gideon. Alongside Din Djarin, Paz and "The Armorer" were the only survivors. Following Djarin's quest to deliver Grogu to the Jedi, Djarin, Paz, and the Armorer reunited on the space station Glavis Ringworld, where they established another covert. Upon learning that Djarin had obtained the Darksaber through combat, Paz Vizsla challenged him to a duel in an attempt to reclaim his clan's sword, but was unsuccessful.
