The Mandalorian clan referred to as Clan Saxon, or the Saxon clan, was a part of House Vizsla. Under the leadership of Gar Saxon, they exerted authority over the planet of Mandalore with assistance from the Galactic Empire. Following Gar Saxon's death—killed by Ursa Wren—a civil war erupted between Clan Saxon and Clan Wren. They were a Mandalorian clan.
Beyond their conflict with Clan Wren, Clan Saxon also incurred the animosity of House Kryze as a result of betraying and ousting them to gain favor with the Empire.
Many Mandalorians, notably Fenn Rau of the Mandalorian Protectors and Sabine Wren, viewed the Saxon clan as betrayers of Mandalore, accusing them of selling out their world to foreign rule and betraying Lady Bo-Katan Kryze, whom many considered the rightful leader of Mandalore. After Gar's demise on Krownest, his brother Lord Tiber Saxon assumed his role as Governor and spearheaded their struggle against Clan Wren and the Nite Owls.
Tiber, having abandoned any sense of allegiance to his heritage, deployed a superweapon known as "the Duchess" against Clan Wren when they conspired with the Rebels to reclaim Mandalore. This weapon functioned by targeting and superheating the beskar alloy present in Mandalorian armor, resulting in the incineration of the wearer. The weapon was deemed an atrocity, as beskar armor held an essential place in Mandalorian culture. Consequently, Sabine, who had unknowingly been manipulated into designing the weapon during her Academy days, spearheaded a combined force of Mandalorians and rebels to infiltrate Saxon's Star Destroyer at Sundari with the aim of destroying the "Duchess" before its further use. However, this also turned out to be a ruse orchestrated by Tiber, who sought to capture Sabine and coerce her into perfecting the weapon's range and capabilities. He confronted her on the ship, torturing her, Bo-Katan, and even his devoted subordinate Captain Hark with it in an attempt to force her compliance. Nevertheless, Sabine seized the opportunity to recalibrate it, causing it to target the Imperial's plastoid armor instead of beskar. Hark took advantage of the situation to escape before Wren breached the Duchess' power core. This led to the weapon's overload and explosion, engulfing the Star Destroyer and all those aboard, including Tiber.
