Poe Dameron #26 represents the twenty-sixth installment of the Star Wars: Poe Dameron comic book series produced by Marvel. Charles Soule penned the script for this issue, while Angel Unzueta provided the artwork. It was made available to the public on April 18, 2018.
Poe Dameron is on a mission to find Lor San Tekka, hoping to retrieve the crucial information needed to locate Luke Skywalker. However, his plans are disrupted by the First Order's intervention on Jakku. Experience Poe Dameron's exploits during the events of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS that were not shown in the film!
Within the pages of this comic, Poe Dameron recalls his assignment on Jakku, specifically mentioning a brief stop to retrieve BB-8. This particular event was later visualized in "The Core Problem," a 2019 episode from the animated television show Star Wars Resistance.
Significant variations exist between The Force Awakens novelization and the comic's depiction of Poe's crash and subsequent escape from Jakku. The novel portrays Poe Dameron as losing consciousness as the TIE fighter's descends onto Jakku, compelling Finn to activate his ejector seat manually. Conversely, the comic depicts Dameron activating Finn's ejector seat to save him, remaining conscious throughout the descent until he is separated from the cockpit. The dialogue and overall interaction between Poe and the scavenger Naka Iit also differ between the comic and the novelization. Furthermore, in the novelization, Poe remains silent during the journey to Blowback Town until the Strus Clan attacks, while in the comic, he entertains Naka Iit with stories of his Resistance adventures until the Strus Clan interrupts them.
According to the reference material Poe Dameron: Flight Log, Ohn Gos transported Dameron to Yavin 4 so he could retrieve Black One prior to his mission to Takodana. However, the comic illustrates Poe's arrival on D'Qar aboard Gos' ship, the Beloved Bophine, where Leia Organa informed him that BB-8 was located on Takodana.
