The Processional Way was a grand avenue that stretched towards the Jedi Temple on the planet of Coruscant.
This Processional Way was a broad, street-level path that provided access to the Jedi Temple situated on Coruscant. Its endpoint featured a stately set of stairs adorned with sculptures depicting two Jedi Warrior Masters and a pair of Sage Masters. The Way was located within the Jedi Order's Temple Precinct area of the Galactic City's Federal District, which served as the capital for both the Galactic Republic and, later, the Galactic Empire. After the Republic, the Empire's leader, Emperor Palpatine, took possession of the Temple Precinct and its central Jedi temple, renaming them "Palace Precinct" and "Imperial Palace," respectively.
In the year 19 BBY, Darth Vader commanded a regiment of clone troopers along the Processional Way to assault the Temple and slaughter the Jedi. Subsequently, the newly established Galactic Empire seized the Temple to serve as the Emperor's palace.
At the celebration of the Jedi Order's eradication, which was organized by Grand Vizier Mas Amedda soon after the New Order's declaration, the avenue was filled with attendees. An incinerator for Jedi lightsabers was placed upon the Way's steps.
