Purge Troopers represented an intimidating cadre of highly skilled Imperial stormtroopers. These troopers upheld the Empire's authority within the Anoat sector under the direction of Governor Ubrik Adelhard. Commander Bragh served as their leader. They were clad in robust armor resembling that worn by the Phase II Dark Troopers, experimental Imperial forces undergoing assessment between the Battle of Yavin and the Battle of Hoth.
A significant number of these troopers were initially drawn from the gang factions involved in the Cargamalis Street Wars. Others were abandoned on crime-ridden planets during their training to diminish their capacity for empathy.
Defection among Purge Troopers was uncommon, and survival after doing so was even rarer; however, some did manage to escape. After evading their former Imperial allies for a time, these defectors eventually aligned themselves with the Uprising.
Purge Troopers utilized substantial armor for protection. Their weaponry included various armaments, such as flamethrowers, rocket launchers, powerful blasters, and sniper rifles.
