R-series astromech droids included R2-HA, a blue and pink unit that served the forces of the Resistance. During the mission to Megalox, it provided assistance to Black Squadron. In an effort to liberate Grakkus the Hutt, it collaborated with BB-8, O-R10N, and R4.
An astromech droid named R2-HA served in the Resistance starfighter squadron known as Black Squadron during the early period of the Cold War. He went with BB-8, O-R10N, and R4 on a mission to Megalox Beta. After Poe Dameron's discussions with Grakkus the Hutt were complicated by the presence of Terex, a First Order Agent, Poe sent R2-HA and the other droids on a task to damage the gravity shield protecting Megalox prison from the intense gravity of Megalox Beta. The primary security generator that managed the gravity shield was positioned on a space station that floated above Megalox Beta.

R2-HA and the other droids, under BB-8's direction, proceeded in the direction of the generator. BB-8 and OR-10N noticed three prison guards coming while R2-HA and R4 were attempting to use a network terminal. The droids used their rocket boosters in an effort to remain hidden. However, R4's boosters failed, and he collided with one of the guards. O-R10N was compelled to knock out the other two guards. Following that, the droids made their way to the primary security field generator located on Deck Twelve.
The droids started to turn off the gravity field generator, but a security droid stopped them. O-R10N engaged the droid in combat but was hurled off a bridge and into its disintegration. BB-8 was able to disable the security droid by electrocuting it after a fight. In the meantime, R2-HA and R4 were successful in turning off the gravity field generator. This made it possible for Poe and the remainder of Black Squadron to save Grakkus. When they got back to the space station, the droids got together with Black Squadron and Grakkus.
After giving Luta, the Warden, control of the prison once more, the droids left with their pilots on board their T-70 X-wing starfighters. Black Squadron turned around and drove Agent Terex's ship away when he attacked the space station above Megalox Beta. Black Squadron let Grakkus go after receiving the required data from him, and then they went back to the Resistance base on D'Qar.

Heather Antos, the assistant editor, is the source of the name R2-HA, which is based on her initials. The Star Wars Legends continuity's R9-series astromech droid is comparable to the droid's design.
