During the Cold War era, specifically when the Flesh Raider uprising occurred on Tython, Jedi Master Orgus Din's apprentice launched an attack against a Flesh Raider encampment situated within the Forsaken Den. This cave was located near the ruins of Kaleth, a temple-city, and the assault was intended to expel the native inhabitants from the region. Subsequent to a successful raid executed by a Jedi task force on the Flesh Raider command base, the Jedi Order discovered the extensive presence of numerous Flesh Raider camps across Tython. In response, the Order mobilized all available Jedi forces on the planet to simultaneously dismantle these war camps. Din's apprentice was specifically tasked with eliminating a camp located within the Forsaken Den cave system, situated near Kaleth. It was there that the Padawan encountered Laotah, a wounded Selkath Jedi, who, before his death, cautioned the apprentice about the Force-sensitive nature of the Flesh Raiders residing within. The young Jedi then proceeded to overcome the natives and was compelled to return to Kalikori village upon receiving a distress signal by Din.
In the year 3643 BBY, as the Cold War neared its conclusion between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, the Flesh Raiders, indigenous to Tython, the homeworld of the Jedi Order, escalated their attacks. The Order had recently uncovered that Bengel Morr, a Nautolan and former Padawan to Jedi Master Orgus Din, who disappeared during the Sacking of Coruscant over ten years prior, was the mastermind orchestrating the Flesh Raiders' invasion. Following a successful raid on the Flesh Raider command base, Din and his fellow Jedi acquired intelligence regarding the locations of several other Flesh Raider encampments. Due to an insufficient number of Jedi Masters to address each camp individually, Din dispatched his Padawan to eradicate an encampment situated within the ancient temple ruins of Kaleth.
Around the time of the command base raid, Laotah, a Selkath Jedi stationed at the Jedi Temple, observed increased Flesh Raider activity via security camera footage previously placed by Din's apprentice during an earlier mission near Kaleth. Prompted by this observation, Laotah decided to investigate. He ventured into the ruins, entering the Forsaken Den cave system, where the Flesh Raiders were last sighted. Unbeknownst to Laotah, the Flesh Raiders had established a fortified stronghold within the Den and possessed Force-sensitive abilities. Employing the dark side of the Force, the Flesh Raiders ambushed Laotah, inflicting severe injuries upon him, with one of them seizing his lightsaber. Mortally wounded, Laotah managed to crawl back towards the cave entrance.
Navigating through the ancient war droids guarding the ruins, Din's Padawan entered the Forsaken Den only minutes after Laotah reached the cave entrance. Speaking in his native tongue, the Selkath cautioned the apprentice to retreat, warning that the Flesh Raiders within possessed the ability to wield the Force and were significantly more formidable than the Jedi Order realized. With his last breath, the Selkath warned the young Jedi that one of the Flesh Raiders had taken his lightsaber.
However, Laotah was unaware that the apprentice had already encountered and defeated some of the Force-wielding natives from the camp. Despite Laotah's warning, the Padawan promised to recover Laotah's lightsaber and continued into the Forsaken Den. Fighting through almost a dozen Force-wielding Flesh Raiders, the Padawan defeated the natives and confronted the Flesh Raider who wielded Laotah's lightsaber. But like the Dark Jedi Callef, the Flesh Raider's use of a lightsaber was not enough to defeat the young Jedi, and the native fell in combat.
After departing the cave, the Padawan communicated with Master Din, reporting the destruction of the camp and Laotah's demise. However, Din was unable to engage in further discussion at that moment, as he had just received an urgent distress signal from Kalikori, indicating that Bengel Morr had been sighted there. With the majority of the Jedi occupied with addressing the other Flesh Raider encampments, Din and his apprentice were the only individuals in close proximity to address the threat posed by Morr. Consequently, he instructed the Padawan to proceed to the village with utmost haste, while the Jedi Master himself hastened to the village to confront his former Padawan.
The assault on the Forsaken Den is a featured event within Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game launched by BioWare on December 20, 2011. This event is depicted within the Jedi Knight class story mission titled "Dark Temptations," wherein the player is tasked with eliminating a Flesh Raider base situated within a cave nestled among the ruins of Kaleth. Within the Forsaken Den—specifically, the class story phase where the mission unfolds—a total of twelve Flesh Raiders are encountered, including the Bladewielder. Successfully defeating ten of these Flesh Raiders fulfills the bonus mission "Scars of the Dark Side." Notably, the quest does not present any options pertaining to the dark side or light side alignment.
