During the Flesh Raider uprising on the Deep Core planet of Tython, the Jedi Master Orgus Din's apprentice was obligated to engage a band of the indigenous Flesh Raiders after receiving orders to look into strange happenings close to the remains of the ancient temple of Kaleth. Within an ancient shrine located near the ruins, the Padawan was taken aback by the presence of Force-sensitive Flesh Raiders, but still succeeded in overcoming the hostile natives despite being outnumbered. The discovery that some of the natives possessed sensitivity to the Force, and were seemingly in training via a holocron, was a concerning development for the Jedi Order given the increased frequency of Flesh Raider attacks, and the Dark Jedi known as Bengel Morr would later utilize these natives as Force Adepts in future conflicts.
In the year 3643 BBY, amidst the Cold War that transpired between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, the Flesh Raiders who were native to Tython began to launch attacks with greater frequency and intensity against both the Jedi Order and the Pilgrims residing in Kalikori village. Having previously triumphed over a Dark Jedi named Callef, who had been directing the natives, the apprentice serving under Jedi Master Orgus Din came to the realization that another individual was orchestrating the Flesh Raiders' actions while recovering weapons from the Flesh Raiders for Kalikori Village. Din detected the identity of the individual from a recording, but refused to share any further details with his apprentice and brought T7-O1—the astromech droid responsible for the recording—back to the Jedi Temple.
Moorint, who held the position of Scout Chief within Kalikori, had received reports indicating that Flesh Raiders had been sighted in proximity to the ancient temple of Kaleth. While Din returned to the Temple to consult with the other Masters, he dispatched his Padawan to investigate these reports. Departing from the village valley, the Padawan proceeded along the Elarian Trail towards Kaleth, battling through the ancient war droids that continued to guard the ruins. Subsequently, the Jedi entered an old tunnel located in the cliffside, where the apprentice encountered a group consisting of more than a dozen Flesh Raiders.
After fighting through the natives within the tunnel, the Padawan emerged into a small valley, where a single Flesh Raider stood before the ruins of an ancient shrine. As the Jedi approached the Flesh Raider Ravager Chieftain, they were shocked to hear the native utter the term Jeehd-ay—indicating the Flesh Raider possessed the ability to speak. The Jedi Order had previously believed the natives to be non-sentient, and this revelation of their intelligence suggested a more significant motive behind the Flesh Raiders' attacks. The Flesh Raider then surprised the Padawan even further by blasting the apprentice with the Force, as the Jedi were unaware that the natives were Force-sensitive. Laughing, the Flesh Raider summoned four subordinate Adepts and commanded them to kill the Jedi. Despite the Flesh Raiders' advantages of surprise and greater numbers, the Padawan was able to hold their ground and defeat the five natives.
Just as the Padawan had defeated the last of the Flesh Raiders, the reinforcements dispatched by Master Din arrived: the Togruta Jedi Master Bela Kiwiiks and her Padawan Kira Carsen. Kiwiiks expressed astonishment upon learning that the natives possessed the ability to speak and wield the Force, and was further surprised upon discovering a holocron on the Ravager Chieftain's body. However, Kiwiiks could not remain for an extended period, as she and Carsen were being summoned to the Republic capital of Coruscant to investigate a dark presence that the Jedi Council had detected there. Before her departure, Kiwiiks instructed the Padawan to install several security recorders in the area, so the Order would be alerted if the Flesh Raiders were to return.
Following the placement of the devices, the apprentice received a holocomm communication from Din, summoning them back to Kalikori Village. There, Din revealed the identity of the hooded figure: his former apprentice Bengel Morr, who had been present in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant during the sacking of the capital by the Sith Empire over ten years earlier. Morr had been presumed dead, but he now seemed determined to destroy the Jedi Order. Din also gave his Padawan a new assignment to take out a shield generator protecting a Flesh Raider base in the Tythos Ridge. Despite the apprentice's actions at the shrine, however, Morr would use many more Force-sensitive Flesh Raiders as Force Adepts later in the uprising.
The skirmish at the ancient shrine is depicted in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game launched by BioWare on December 20, 2011. The skirmish portrays the events of the Jedi Knight class story mission titled "Enemy Force," where the player is dispatched by Orgus Din to the ruins of Kaleth to investigate the activities of the Flesh Raiders in that area. After the confrontation with the Flesh Raiders at the shrine, Bela Kiwiiks instructs the player to install security devices around the area.
