Ravinaks were sizable reptilian creatures native to the extremely cold world of Pagodon, where they swam beneath the frozen water.
These beings possessed a gray hide, a breathing hole located on the top of their head, and a pair of prominent ivory teeth. These beasts were frequently seen in proximity to the local spaceport, as the dumping of waste from starship crews provided a steady food source for these meat-eating animals. Their robust skin offered defense against assaults, and a row of spikes along their back served as a deterrent to attacks from above. Ravinaks had two powerful pectoral fins, each ending in six sharp claws. They utilized these claws alongside their two tusks to strike at their prey.
In the year 9 ABY, a ravinak launched an attack on a landspeeder, resulting in the destruction of the vehicle and the death of its human speeder pilot. Subsequently, the ravinak turned its attention to the Razor Crest, a gunship piloted by Din Djarin, the Mandalorian bounty hunter, who was attempting to depart Pagodon with his Mythrol captured target. The ravinak latched onto the Razor Crest's landing gear while the ship was airborne, attempting to drag it down, but it was driven off by the Mandalorian's Amban phase-pulse blaster.
The ravinak made its debut in the initial episode of the The Mandalorian television show, entitled "Chapter 1: The Mandalorian," which became available for viewing on Disney+ on November 12th, 2019.
