Reekrider Cartel

The criminal syndicate known as the Reekrider Cartel, or simply the Reekriders, operated as a cartel. Following the Battle of Kur which occurred in 232 BBY, a Strike force of the Nihil under the command of Pan Eyta, Tempest Runner of the Tempest group, commandeered a shipment of the drug reedug belonging to the cartel. This shipment was originally intended for delivery to the planet Athiss. While intoxicated by reedug supplied by Eyta, Udi Dis, who served as an escort for Marchion Ro, the Nihil leader, divulged to the Tempest Runner the means by which the leader obtained the Path hyperspace routes utilized by the group for their raids. In 231 BBY, Eyta shared this information with fellow Tempest Runners Lourna Dee and Zeetar, and the pair began to suspect that the reedug given to Dis originated from the Reekriders.

Description

The Reekrider Cartel, alternatively referred to as the Reekriders, existed as a criminal cartel during the High Republic Era, around that time.

History

A Strike under Pan Eyta's (pictured) leadership stole a reedug shipment from the Reekrider Cartel.

Sometime after the Battle of Kur in 232 BBY, the cartel dispatched a shipment of the recreational substance reedug to the astronomical location Athiss. However, before reaching its destination, a Nihil Strike force belonging to the Tempest led by Tempest Runner Pan Eyta intercepted the shipment. Eyta provided a dose of the drug to Udi Dis, an individual struggling with addiction and serving as the personal bodyguard of Marchion Ro, the Nihil leader, hoping to extract valuable information. Under the influence of reedug, Dis confessed to Eyta—who was recording their exchange—that the Paths, the hyperspace routes employed by Nihil ships equipped with Path engines for their raids, were provided by an old woman stationed aboard the leader's flagship, named the Gaze Electric.

In 231 BBY, Lourna Dee, a Tempest Runner, reflected on Eyta's capture of the Reekrider Cartel's shipment while pondering the Nihil's recent attempts to create a false sense of security within the Galactic Republic. She considered this endeavor relatively insignificant and unlikely to attract attention. Subsequently, Eyta revealed to her and fellow Tempest Runner Zeetar the origin of the Nihil's Paths by playing the recording of his conversation with Dis. Zeetar voiced his suspicion that the reedug given to the escort had been supplied by the Reekriders, whom Dee then identified by name.
