Zeetar

Zeet, a nickname for Zeetar, was a Talpini male serving as one of the three Tempest Runners within the Nihil marauder group. His promotion to this position occurred after the death of Kassav Milliko during the Battle of Kur. Zeetar, a highly skilled engineer, dedicated his expertise to enhancing the Nihil's Path engines, improving the scav droids utilized by the Nihil in their raids, and discovering a new operational base for the Nihil within an abandoned [prison](/article/prison] complex situated on the planet Grizal.

Biography

Ascension

As a member of the Nihil, a band of anarchist marauders, Zeetar was a Talpini. Initially, he served under Lourna Dee's Tempest, but following the death of Kassav Milliko and the dissolution of his Tempest after the Battle of Kur, Zeetar was granted his own. Zeetar became known for his irritable nature, particularly towards his fellow Tempest Runners. Despite his difficult personality, Zeetar's exceptional skills as an engineer were invaluable. He improved the Nihil's Path engines, enhanced the scav droids used in their raids, and secured a new base within a derelict prison facility on the planet Grizal.

A shocking meeting

Following a major defeat at the hands of the Galactic Republic during the First Battle of Cyclor, Zeetar convened with his fellow Runners, Dee and Pan Eyta. Donning a newly constructed powersuit, Zeetar physically confronted Eyta, now dwarfing him in size and strength, after the Dowutin was insulted for his failure. Marchion Ro, the Eye of the Nihil, intervened to stop the altercation, but proceeded to humiliate Eyta and presented him with a helmet. To the astonishment of the Runners, the helmet was designed to execute Eyta via electrocution. Eyta destroyed the helmet, while Zeetar and Dee watched in apprehension.

Insurrection

Zeetar was present when Pan Eyta confronted Ro regarding the current state of the Nihil. Zeetar and his Tempest sided with Eyta. Ro delivered a speech outlining his ambitions for the Nihil and revealed a plan to assassinate Supreme Chancellor Lina Soh. Zeetar and his Tempest swiftly aligned themselves with Ro, becoming some of the first to express support for her death.

Attack on Valo

During the attack at the Republic Fair on Valo, Zeetar and his Tempest provided assistance to his fellow Runners. While Dee and Eyta spearheaded the assault on the planet, Zeetar and his Tempest eliminated anyone attempting to escape Valo.

Attack on the Nihil camp

Although the Nihil were forced to retreat, the attack was considered a success as they believed they had killed the Chancellor. Zeetar congratulated Eyta on his success before meeting with Ro. He witnessed Ro's attempt to poison Eyta, who survived without Zeetar's knowledge. The Jedi Order infiltrated and attacked the camp. Zeetar, alongside Lourna Dee, fought the Jedi Bell Zettifar and Indeera Stokes. Zeetar was accidentally shot by Dee, and an explosion caused the roof to collapse on him.

Undercover Jedi

Following the presumed demise of Lourna Dee, Zeetar was incorrectly identified as a potential leader of the Nihil. Two Jedi, Keeve Trennis and Terec, were dispatched to Soola to infiltrate the Nihil. Trennis's attack on a subordinate of Zeet impressed him. He accepted their cover story of being members of Pan Eyta's Tempest based on her combat skills but demanded that Trennis prove her and Terec's loyalty to the Nihil. He presented her with his battle hammer and ordered a prisoner, Myarga Anjiliac Atirue, to be brought before him, instructing her to execute the prisoner.

Personality and traits

Zeetar was known for his extremely irritable demeanor, frequently disparaging his fellow Tempest Runners. He fearlessly provoked Pan Eyta, despite Eyta's greater size and intimidating presence, for the failure of one of his Clouds, Sarn Starbreaker. Zeetar was also capable of acts of kindness, as demonstrated when he congratulated Eyta on his success during the attack on Valo. Furthermore, his exceptional engineering skills greatly benefited the Nihil.

Despite his temporary disloyalty to Marchion Ro, he was ultimately loyal to the Eye and was the first of the Tempest Runners to support him when Eyta challenged his leadership. Zeetar also knew when to concede, as shown when Ro severely punished his Dowutin rival.

Equipment

Zeetar had constructed a massive powersuit that made him tower over other Nihil at the camp. This suit featured a protective cage on its chest where Zeetar would pilot his beloved armor. The suit mirrored the physical movements of its pilot from within the cage. The enormous suit was equipped with Loadlifter droid arms fitted with flame rifles and grenade launchers above the pilot's head. The armor also had laser cannons along the forearms that could emit blue [lasers](/article/laser] powerful enough to penetrate a Lepi's head. Zeetar also used a large battle hammer while piloting his suit.

Behind the scenes

Zeetar's first appearance was in the 2021 novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm, authored by Cavan Scott. His image first appeared in Star Wars: The High Republic, ninth issue of the comic series, written by Scott, illustrated by Ario Anindito, and published by Marvel Comics on September 1 of the same year.
