Reticul, situated on the Galactic Empire's terraformed asteroid of Hanoon, functioned as a city. This settlement came into existence in 6 ABY. The inhabitants of this city safeguarded a fragment of an ancient Jedi artifact known as the Vor'Na'Tu. Positioned adjacent to one of the asteroid's canals, the city featured a Command center, a number of prefab shelters, and an animal nursery, all under the authority of the Galactic Empire. The city was defended by three turrets that encircled the town. During that year, Luke Skywalker, who would later establish the New Jedi Order, and his sister Leia Organa ventured to Hanoon to secure the shards, leading a small New Republic army.
Skywalker and Organa's initial destination was Reticul to acquire the shard. The town was unwilling to assist until the turrets were destroyed, so the Republic forces used their Blaster Cannon to take out the turrets.
Following this, Reticul gratefully surrendered their shard. They also provided three R2-D5 labor droids to aid the Republic forces in establishing a base for their ongoing mission. Subsequently, Organa and Skywalker resolved to liberate the rest of the asteroid and seized control of the Terraform Processor. With the defeat of Moff Yittreas, Hanoon consented to join the New Republic.
The strategy guide for the 2001 video game titled Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds contained the first mention of Reticul. It appeared during a mission in the Princess Princess Leia campaign. The mission's objectives can be fulfilled in any sequence and utilizing various methods. This article operates under the assumption that the player visited Reticul initially, given its proximity, and that the Blaster Cannon was deployed against the turrets. The game's strategy guide advocates for this particular approach. The mission, and consequently Reticul, was also featured in the game's 2002 expansion pack, Clone Campaigns.
