Shi Shu, an Omwati individual, held the position of second-in-command to the pirate captain Eleodie Maracavanya back in 5 ABY. Before Maracavanya boarded the captured Corellian CR90 named Starfall, Shu was present, providing key information: a senatorial ambassador, Tia'dor Emshwa, planned to transport a cargo ship laden with valuable goods to Ithor, hoping to sway them to join the New Republic. Shu affirmed to the captain that the Starfall was properly secured, unlike the previous plundered vessel that almost fell to the Rangs.
Following the establishment of the Sovereign Latitudes of Maracavanya, Shi Shu continued to serve as a member of Maracanya's crew. He broke in on a conversation between the captain and Kartessa to call zher to the bridge of Liberty's Misrule. Three Star Destroyers, in retreat from the Battle of Jakku, had seemingly confused the Super Star Destroyer for one still under the control of Imperial forces. Shu sided with Carklin Ryoon, the Ssori gunner, suggesting a deception to seize the ships and conscript their crews. Maracanya chose instead to destroy them, aiming to gain favor with the New Republic. Despite some reservation, Shi Shu relayed Maracanya's command to the other members of the bridge crew.
