In the year 18 BBY, a Grysk operative known as "Jixtus" deployed his flagship, the FateSpinner, a Shatter-class WarMaster, to the Ornfra system within the Chiss Ascendancy. This action was a covert assault targeting the Clarr light cruiser Orisson, which belonged to the Chiss Clarr family. Jixtus's objective was to eliminate Captain Clarr'os'culry, core name "Roscu," the Orisson's commander, because she had discovered a group of Grysk warships that Jixtus had provided to Patriarch Clarr'ivl'exow "Rivlex" of the Clarr.
Upon the Orisson's arrival in the system of Ornfra, aligned directly with the planet Ornfra, the FateSpinner initiated an attack. It unleashed spectrum lasers as Roscu realized the attacking vessel was a Grysk warship. Consequently, the captain instructed her pilot to rapidly engage hyperspace, thus evading the FateSpinner's offensive.
During 18 BBY, a crisis unfolded in the Unknown Regions within the Chiss Ascendancy. This crisis was triggered by the combined efforts of the Grysk agent "Jixtus" and his associate, Generalirius Nakirre from the Kilji Illumine, representing the Kilji species. Jixtus formed an alliance with Clarr'ivl'exow, core name "Rivlex," the Patriarch of the Clarr family within the Chiss Ascendancy. The Grysk supplied Rivlex with several Grysk warships from his own fleet, dispatching them to the Rhigar system. There, Rivlex and Jixtus concealed them within the Junkard asteroid field. Simultaneously, the Clarr Patriarch dispatched Captain Clarr'os'culry "Roscu," the commander of the Clarr light cruiser Orisson, to the Ornfra system within the Ascendancy.
At Ornfra, the Grysks attempted to utilize an asteroid missile platform to obliterate the Orisson while destroyers from the Dasklo family of the Chiss were nearby, to create the illusion that the Dasklo had attacked the Clarr. However, the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet's Chiss heavy cruiser Grayshrike successfully destroyed the missile platform. Subsequently, the Orisson returned to the Rhigar system, where Roscu uncovered Jixtus's warships. Rivlex then sent her back to Ornfra to demonstrate that the Dasklo were, according to Jixtus, constructing a massive fleet. Concurrently, a Grysk commander informed Jixtus about Roscu's discovery, prompting him to assign his flagship, the FateSpinner, a Shatter-class WarMaster, with the mission to murder the Chiss captain.
As the Orisson entered the Ornfra system, oriented towards the planet Ornfra, the FateSpinner initiated its assault utilizing its spectrum lasers. Raamas, the Orisson's first officer, initially intended to hail the vessel, unaware of its Grysk affiliation, but his command was overruled by his superior. Subsequently, Roscu instructed her pilot to prepare the Orisson for hyperspace and briefly activate the main starboard thrusters twice before deactivating them. This action created an imbalance, shifting the warship to starboard, which was then counteracted by fully activating the starboard–bow maneuvering jets. Through this maneuver, the Clarr successfully deceived the FateSpinner into anticipating a shot at the Orisson's starboard side while they moved to portside, facilitating their escape into hyperspace.
Although the Grysks failed to kill Roscu, they inflicted damage to the Orisson's starboard Thruster Four and warped three aft hull plates on the light cruiser. Shortly after the FateSpinner's unprovoked attack, the Orisson participated in Senior Captain Thrawn's last stand, where a fleet of Chiss vessels annihilated Jixtus's flagship and the remainder of his fleet. Due to Roscu surviving both the battle and the earlier Grysk attempts on her life, the inhabitants of the Ascendancy's planet Rhigar gave her the nickname "The One They Could not Kill."
